I’m currently reading the Catechism and am on Part III. I noticed that there are many defined sins (rash judgement, detraction, disobeying teachers, et cetera). Some of them explicitly have it said “this is a grave matter”, some of them do not. I’ve noticed that the Catechism doesn’t explicitly state that heresy, apostasy, and schism (which I’m sure are grave matters because you can be excommunicated for them) are grave matters.
So my question is this: is every sin defined in the Catechism a grave matter, or just the ones that states are grave matters? Or, is it some combination of the two? Or, do we have to look to another source to find out?
Please back up what you have to say, too.
