I have listened to Gregg and Jennifer of The Catholics Next Door for a long time via podcast. They have been on the Catholic Channel for only a few months. They run the Rosary Army which gives out Rosaries to many different people and teaches people about the power of the Rosary. They are very real and true to the Catholic teachings. I don’t know about the rest of the line up though. I don’t have satellite radio so I can’t listen.

I’ve listened to The Catholic Channel since it began two years ago and have not heard anything against the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. I’d like to suggest the show “Conversation with the Cardinal” Thursdays 1:00 PM EST. If anyone has any concerns, please contact Cardinal Egan directly at Cardinal@TheCatholicChannel.org. This station is under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of New York.

Hi, Everyone! I trust you’re all keeping vigilant on your Lenten practices. Hang in there! Less than 40 days now…

Hey, I recently got a three month trial subscription to XM Radio and tuned into The Catholic Channel (Ch. 117) and was rather disappointed to realize the content was largely jibber-jabber and off-topic rambling when it came to the overall format. Anyone out there experience the same? I really like when EWTN Radio runs Fr. John Corapi, Fr. Benedict Groeschel and Fr. Bill Casey, but I’m not a big fan of most of their other programming when it comes to hosts and speakers. It seems a lot of them just can’t get in enough plugs for their new book or CD for sale. I’m all for free enterprise, but St. Paul said he preached the gospel free of charge. This website is a PERFECT example of intelligent exchange of dialogue and ideology from a Catholic perspective and it’s all FREE OF CHARGE. I love it. And I love all of you, my brothers and sisters. Pax et bonum.

What are your thoughts on this matter?

Ave Maria,

Clydesdale

I stopped listening to terrestrial radio for about a year now. Even when I had satellite TV I could only get EWTN on it.

I like both channels EWTN and The Catholic Channel what’s great is I listen to it in the truck when I drive to work then listen to it online when I get to work. BTW I checked with the IT person at work and it’s not a problem.

I also got the boom box and a repeater and I can listen to Sirius/XM in every room at home. The wife and I got rid of the TV we were paying a hundred bucks a month and really wasn’t watching it. I really am hooked on satellite radio.

About for the plugs for books and CD’s welcome to Christian media.

Come to think about it; secular talk show media is a about the same.

I have Sirius radio and I really only listen to a couple of channels 160 ewtn, 159 the catholic ch. ,144 the patroit ch. and a few other music ch.'s. The Catholic Ch. is good I listen to Gus Lloyd in the morning then Mass from St.Patrick’s Cath. in NY. Lino Ruli is funny in the afternoon and if you pay atten. you will learn somethings while getting a chuckle, Busted Halo with Fr. Dave is also funny and you learn things , If you like a lecture type learning listen to EWTN , lots of good info not many laughs. Now the Patroit Ch. will give you Nightmares.👍

I listen to those and I also listen to Sirius Left 146 just to hear what they have to say.

Also XM Book Radio 117
Road Dog Trucking 147
Blue Collar Radio 103
Doctor Radio 114
Sirius XM Stars 102
Sirius XM Stars Too 108
POTUS Politics 110

NPR, CNN, FOX News and Fox Talk

My favorite is Radio Classics 118

Yes I listen to 146 also. do you lister to lynn samuaels she is on I think 1pm m-f ? she is funny she used to have a show on wabc-am radio out of NYC. she is liberal but honest I remember when ex-pres Clinton would screw-up she would on him like white on rice, now she is not a fan of our current pres. she tells it like it is. worth a listen to, but not as good as Andrew Wilkow on ch.144

Thanks for the insights. I’ll try and check out your suggestions. Sounds like you know what you’re talking about.

Best,

Clydesdale

I’ve never had XM, but just thought I’d add that, if you have access to the 'net – I guess you would if you’re reading this (duh!) – try www.relevantradio.com. They have some good programmng: talk show type stuff for the morning and afternoon drives, plus Q&A about scripture and the faith from about noon central 'til 3pm. Also, interspersed are the Divine Mercy chaplet and the Angelus at noon and six.

God bless,
Dan

You can’t plug satellite radio channels without B.B. King’s blues channel (74) or Classic Vinyl (not sure what XM channel that is, but 14 on Sirius).

As far as Lino plugging his stuff (I’m sure he’s the one you are thinking of), the DVD Generation Cross is outstanding, and a lot of times the plugs are for comedic effect. It is a lot of “jibber jabber” as you mentioned, but it’s fun jibber jabber that puts the faith in my mind for the rest of the day.

And while we’re talking about plugs, if not for The Catholic Channel, I’m not sure I would have been at Rite of Election this afternoon! TCC definitely pulled me into the faith, and I am eternally greatful to the Archdiocese of New York for this endeavor.

Dude! First of all, welcome home to Rome. Congratulations on your journey toward full communion in the Catholic Church! Are you a catechumen or a candidate?

Secondly, I spend most of my drive time on XM Radio Bluesville Channel 74. It is outstanding. You would think as I drive along in my Chevy Silverado, there’s a country station playing, but no. I got the blues!

Best to all my New York brothers and sisters from the Heartland of Iowa.

Av Maria,

Clydesdale

Candidate. Was baptized as a child in the Baptist church. Much gratitude for your welcome 🙂

Off topic, but who are some of your favorite blues artists? Keb Mo, Tab Benoit, and the B.B. himself are some great artists. I like some of John Mayer’s blues music (not the pop music) as well.

Really? I quite like the Catholic Channel, even moreso than EWTN. At times EWTN can be so dry and tutorial, that there isnt much there to hold my interest. It’s not all like that; I do like Sunday night live, Life on the rock and the news alot, but overall, The Catholic channel translates better into a radio format than EWTN.You can learn alot, even from Lino, if you’re quick on your feet.Busted Halo with Fr.Dave is a great show, maybe try that one. I have not heard “The Catholics next door” but I never liked their podcast all that much anyway, so I really haven’t given them much of a fair chance on The Catholic Channel.I suppose I will eventually, but right now, I’ve just got too much to do.

I posted quite awhile ago during the presidential election about this show on the Catholic Channel on XM 117 and SIRIUS 150 something. There’s this show called Busted Halo show. When I first commented on it I was just starting to listen to the channel so I didn’t know much about it. The host (Father Dave) said some stuff during the election about how to rationalize voting for Obama. Now, I’ve heard something again which makes me very concerned about this radio program. He was talking about Obama’s commencement speech at Notre Dame. He sounded very in favor of Obama speaking at Notre Dame. Most everything he says on the show sounds very Catholic except when it comes president obama. Is there anyone else that listens to the show that shares my concerns?

Even their website has an article that seems to think its ok that obama gave a speech at notre dame. 🤷

I didn’t catch all of the show today, but Fr. Dave Dwyer, host of Busted Halo, is solid. If something was said that was objectionable, he’s got such a good track record that he’s worth continued listening.

Love the show. It has really helped me grow spiritually.

You can’t just slip what he said under the rug because most of what he says is ok. However, I don’t know if I heard enough to stop listening. Busted Halo show is my least favorite anyways so I don’t listen to it much. I just hope he doesn’t start giving people wrong ideas.

I did go back and listen, and I think what Fr. Dave was getting at was that if Obama’s visit can open up some dialogue on the abortion issue, then it could be a good thing. Trust me, Fr. Dave would never say anything that was contrary to church teaching.

I don’t agree. For one, Fr. Dave knows there was no dialogue at Notre Dame. Second, he tried to compare the honor that the pope gave to Sarkozy (French President) as rationale for president obama speaking at notre dame. But the 2 cannot be compared, as the situations are completely different.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Fr. Dave is a good guy. I just think he might be a little misguided when it comes to president obama.

Regardless of the difference of opinion, I hope that, in no way at all, makes you think that Busted Halo isn’t worth listening to 🙂

It bears repeating: Fr. Dave is an outstanding radio host 👍
