Stay in your faith, and I will GLADLY stay in mine, since mine is based on God’s Word.
based on God’s word??how do you even have a clue as to what is God’s word.Just prove that the book you call Holy is God’s word…prove it…without the history of the Church being involved…

As a Protestant, if you don’t know what your own Reformer’s changed, what’s the point? You then don’t even know why you are “protesting” the Catholic church…good grief…🤷
That’s what I thought…you cant back it up.

I never said it does not matter what which religion you belong to. What I am saying is you can go to a church pray do good works get baptized ect. and still burn in hell for all eternity. because you were never saved. If you read what Jesus said in Mat 7:21 -22 -23…fbl9
to Quote you is a waste cause you don’t even acknowledge what you said previously…God does not want religion…is your exact words, yet He sure seemed to set one up in the OT…from what i understand in the bible the word know is a intimate knowledge of another person…when i or any other catholic partakes of the Eucharist how more intimate can one get, with our Lord and SAVIOR…yes Fisher the words in St.Matthews writing of the gospel applies directly to your kind who call Jesus a liar in their wrangling of the scripture, particularly the gospel written by St. John.

avenger what was Christ’s purpose in calling St. Peter a rock in the first place…or Christ telling St. Peter " feed my sheep" three times, none the less??

What was His purpose in calling James and John 'sons of thunder"? And why, when He took disciples apart, it was the THREE of them, not just Peter?

perhaps you read my post wrong i asked you the purpose of caling St.Peter a rock, you don’t have the answer so you come up with this…Jesus never called the brothers the son’s of thunder the Gospel writer did.
.took the diciples apart, did He put them back together?

He also referred to a rock foundation in a parable, the Greek being petra. Again, you dont know why He called Peter rock, the same as you dont know why the others were sons of thunder.

Huh? I am asking you what are you protesting from the Catholic church? Back what up?

How come as a **P-r-o-t-e-s-t-**ant, you do not know why and what Luther protested? This was the start of your Protestanism. He was the father of all Reformers, yet you do not know what he did…typical.

Quoting bits of the Bible out of context is dry stuff. When you factor in personal interpretation, of a translation of a translation, you can get lost quite easily.

That’s why Catholics have a backup in our Tradition and in the occasional saint the Church throws up. Add in the Sacraments and Indulgences, icons and statues and devotions, priests and nuns and bishops and you have to be very wilful to avoid going to Heaven, with all that help available to push you up the mountain.

And what help is a book, if a man can’t read? Or he says to you, as a previous poster has said “Prove what you’ve said is the word of God”.

Early Christian saints, and later Catholic ones, did miracles. Can’t beat that for bringing in lost souls.

By comparison, Protestantism and Islam are spiritual deserts. It’s as if they’ve both decided to throw away the oars of their boats, expecting the current to bring them into shore.

So, they WERE Christian before being Catholic! THANK YOU!

From what avenger has said, he/she isn’t Lutheran, and probably couldn’t care less what Luther said, did, or thought. In fact, my guess is he/she probably would disavow Luther’s stance on the real presence and other things considered by many protestants as being “too Catholic”. I might be wrong. It is just a guess on what I’ve seen him/her write.

why can’t you asnwer the question given to you? why did Jesus call St.Peter rock???i asked you first so tell me…again Christ did not give the name son’s of thunder to the brothers rather the writter of the gospel did…read what is put to you then answer the questions before going off on some tangent that is only going to show you don’t know the answer to the question given to you…

They were always Catholic, but there was no rea;l need for the label untilf heresies started popping up. So now you are claiming a semantic issue as a victory.

Thank you Jon…I thought it was me…at least you have been actually reading what I write. They are too busy with personal attacks to care what I write.

Avenger, you are a young man, very young. You don’t understand Catholicism because you never learned your history. So stop trying to discredit the church Christ established, you only look like a fool.

You may say they are personal attacks because you cannot take it, but they are defending the church which also defends Jesus Christ.

Oh I can take it just fine brother… and again you equate a man-made institution with Christ…borders on blasphemy.
