And who says? What did it evolve from?

It did not evolve. It developed.

From the acorn in 33AD or thereabouts, it is now a full blow tree.
Me thinks you would rather it remained an acorn.

The child grows into an adult. The person who remains a child forever means there is a retardation somewhere.
Oh no! I joined the Roman Catholic Church several years ago and now I find out that, if the posters are correct, that the Roman Catholic Church doesn’t really exsist! I feel so childlike; and I was just getting the hang of using “RCC” in some of my posts.😃

No it didn’t, but the point here is about what exactly binding and loosing is. By the way, how are you doing? I haven’t talked with you in a while my friend.
Doing well. We had a hectic holiday. I usually work a light schedule at the end of the year, since I have my son with me, but for some reason this week is absolutely crazy. Being in Real Estate, I am not upset about that in this market. 😉

I hope that you had a happy Christmas season as well.

Ok. So the Christian Church founded by Christ would still have the authority to bind and loose.

What is binding and loosing?

… that the Roman Catholic Church doesn’t really exsist!
I wouldn’t say that exactly. It’s more that, for us Catholics, the term “Roman Catholic Church” is unnecessary. We would sooner say “the Catholic Church”, “the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church”, “the one true Church”, or something along those lines.

On the other hand, Orthodox and Protestants don’t accept the claim that we are “the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church”. (The Orthodox, in fact, also claim to be “the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church”).

Hence if someone asks me “What Church do you belong to?”, I my response will not be “The One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church”, but rather “The RCC”. (Obviously, if they asked me “Do you believe that you belong to the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church?”, then I will answer “Yes”.)

Ok, let’s look at this claim.

Did the authority to bind and loose end when the last Apostle died?
Yes. Either the Catholic church is right, or Jesus lied:

John 16:13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.

If Truth continues to be revealed to this day, Jesus was mistaken.

The bile, the anger, the hate !!! Holy Macaroni !!!

Look at the authority SIA has been given! Hallelujah! His word is infallible, he was there some 1900+ or - years ago and knows what Jesus wrote! Hallelujah!!

And I thought Jesus left the organization up to the men He choose. Silly me!

Didn’t I know that the Bible was dropped from the sky sui generis and it was meant to be a HOW TO BE A CHRISTIAN book!!??

I must have missed that memo from Luther, although we all got the one where he decided to create his own canon of Scripture.

SIA is full of AIR.

Shame on those scandalous allegations, tsk tsk

Robert
Come on, this stuff is getting to really be old hat. What you hoped to accomplish by this uncharitable post makes you look much more ignorant than I. For God’s sake, who is claiming that Scripture fell out of the sky? Please…

Your logic is flawed. The one holy catholic and apostolic Church is not an institution. The Catholic church IS an institution. This is really a silly twist of words propagated centuries ago. Catholic is the proper name of a denomination. The word catholic (lower case c) however describes the Church Jesus Christ founded. It is universal.

No… The Roman Catholic Church was, as you say, invented by man… But which men? Actually the term was invented by the Anglican, as you should know. It was used in a derogatory remark. The actual way to identify what you are referring to as the “Roman Catholic Church” is most likely the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church. The official name is not really official but it is known mostly as the Church of Christ or the Catholic Church. The word “Roman” really identifies all Catholics that are in union with the Bishop of Rome. You should already know this. I’ve gone through great lengths to learn this and have verified it over and over. As a former Catholic SIA you should already know this but maybe you’ve been gone too long. Thinking about swimming the Tiber back soon?😉

But this is the reason I hate the term “Roman” in Catholic Church. It offends me even though many Catholics use it unknowingly.
The Tiber is polluted in my opinion as was in Luther’s.

Yeah Clement started the whole thing. Thats why Henry VIII left the Roman Church because he found that Clement started the whole rome thing. Henry was such a nice person that he even took the wealth from the monestaries and gave it back to the pope when He order the separation of Cantebury from Rome. Yep. And even to this day! It’s good to know the Catholics allow for lesbian priest…wait…no thats Anglican…

Matthew 16:18 clearly states that Peter was the rock upon which Jesus built his church. Even Protestants have grudgingly come to agree on this.
Can you tell me which ones specifically? There are over 33,000 different Protestants you know.

Oh really? The Anglicans at GAFCON allow for lesbian priests? I think that you need to figure out which door you checked your sense at.

I say Anglican you say Episcolpalian
I say tomato you Tomato

I’m sorry SIA I get bored and then say off the wall things to partly make a point but primarily just to have fun. Its my twisted sense of humor. But then I blame it on the Brits since I probably picked up living in Kenya for 4 years and then the Uk for 6.

You say Anglican and mean Episcopalian. I say Anglican and mean 40 provinces of the Worldwide Anglican Communion with the Episcopal church being only one small province. You need to figure out what you are talking about and try it again.

Posters on this forum generally seem to be ignorant when it comes to anglicanism, possibly to do with the fact that they think it’s all like the liberals in the episcopal church USA.

Just because Henry VIII separated the church from Rome does not really make him the creator of anglicanism. In effect the real moulder of it was Thomas Cranmer.

Thank you for your insight. You are absolutely right about the ignorance of Anglicanism here. It’s rampid.

You’re right of course and there are verying levels of Anglicanism for instance a lot of the americans are looking to the African communion for conservative leadership. Thomas Cranmer did however make a great case for Henry to divorse and institute Secular supremacy over the church in England. As well as adapting the first liturgy for the Church in England. I also suppose he’s responsible for the book of common prayers. I don’t think Thomas Cranmer is a better choice since he comes off as a manipulator.

You don’t get it do you. I’m Anglican, I’m NOT Episcopalian.
You don’t get it. I’m pulling your chain because I’m bored. They still commune with each other.

And that means something different in the anglican communion than in the Catholic Church.
Care to explain why all the breakaway anglican churches in the USA joined together as one movement and claims to be part of the communion?
