One thing I’ve heard or noticed for many years is the understanding that the church is Catholic. "I’v e joined the church; left the church; love the Church; etc.
Any other denomination is specified really. The Methodist church; the Baptist church; the Lutheran church, etc. And many protestants will say maybe that “the church isn’t modern enough, or too judgmental, etc.”
It all implies that there really is only one Church.

It depends on where you live and how the historical distribution of denominations were in the region or country.
In the Nordic countries being non-Lutheran was illegal well into the mid 19th century, and the RCC is still marginal here. If someone here talks about Church, they are talking about the Lutheran, formerly state churches, one in each country. People would specify if they were pentecoastals, baptists etc, but they are not really included in ’church’.
It’s the polar opposite of a place like Ireland, France, Spain, Poland etc.
There may be only one universal church, but apparently it comes in regional flavours.
