If God gives me a rahma word that is specificly for a situation I am dealing with in my life may not mean the same thing for a situation in your life. Not taking away from the word but giving healing to different situations with the same word. Not misleading but helping people in different situations. So if by me being transformed by the word and not continuing my sinful life because it is not the way the Catholic Church says it should be ,then I am automatically wrong and still living my life in vain.So I might as well go back to being a drug taking, drunk driving ,wife abusing, child neglecting , adulterous, theiving member of society.
Ah, but my friend, the fact that you choose to refuse to consider The Church that actually gave The Book to the world MAY have something, is a choice!

If you can find a church or faith that AGREES with everything you want, then you have found your own creation of a faith!

The Catholic Church teaches that ALL are children of The One True God. Therefore, all are ‘catholic’ by virture of being Created. But to exercise your freedom to choose and be baptized as a formal member of The Church is another choice entirely!

Jesus wasn’t a Protestant. He didn’t protest the Church. He was a Jew. Before there was an official “Catholic” church, there were believers and followers of Christ.

Jesus was a Protestant. Jesus might have been a “Jew” but He was head of the Church. If you want to go to heaven; you gonna be a Jew too.

I must admit…I was taking you rather seriously. Until I read what was behind that link.

Are you kidding us? Jesus was a protestant, because he “protested” in favor of the truth? That’s your justification?? The church of Jesus’ day was Catholic? That’s not even a claim The Church makes. The Catholic Church is the Church* left behind *by Jesus, NOT the one He encountered while He was on earth. This is why He instituted it, because a true Church did not exist.

This is such a transparent, shallow attempt to justify protestantism. There are so many more holes in this weak argument, that I’ll allow my fellow Catholics to jump in here.

God Bless

When the leaders of His day (Early Catholic Church) taunted Jesus with the question:
“Why do your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders?”
Jesus replied:
“Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? You have made void the Word of God because of your tradition.” Matthew 15:2-6, RV.
I swear, whenever I think that the birth of weird and strange beliefs has reached its peak, I am proven wrong. Now we have this group with the quote above. They are actually saying that the Catholic Church existed at the time of Christ but they were the Pharisees!! Santa Maria!!!

The funny thing is that ‘they’ can trace The Catholic Church THAT FAR BACK to Christ!..and finding that out, rather than become Catholics, they opt to ‘extend’ the lineage into more of their preposterous delusions!!

Too much pride!

Gabriel of 12;

Protestant101 has something gotten you ill, I will pray for you; If this is your anti catholic rhetoric, by stating Jesus was head of the church? and Jesus was a Protestant? You are losing ground here in your understanding of Christianity, not to mention you are losing credibility to defend or argue the Christian faith if you dont believe who Jesus is?

According to this thread and some others, only Catholics will occupy heaven??? Elitist?

No.

And no.

The Church does not speculate on the final destination of others, save for canonized saints.

Members of the Catholic Church are not guaranteed heaven simply by virtue of their union with The Church. Nor are non-Catholics excluded from the possibility of salvation.

Through Christ, His Church proclaims the need for valid water baptism (atleast of desire), belief in the triune God, obedience to the teachings of Christ (as entrusted to, and promulgated by His Church), and perpetual repentence of sin (which requires proper formation of conscience - again authentically guided by His Church.

As a non-Catholic, in some respects, you are allowed invincible ignorance of following the precise precepts of the Church (attending Mass on Holy Days, etc). But this is a gray area, because invincible ignorance is difficult to claim for anyone with faculties to strip themselves of bias and discern with due diligence the truth of Christ’s Church on earth. But, if you indeed cannot help but maintain ignorance of Her, are validly baptized, aware of what constitutes sin, and truly, contritely repent of sin throughout your life, then you have as much a chance as many Catholics do. It will probably surprise you in the end that your salvation, powered by the grace of God, was effected for you by Christ’s Church (The Catholic Church), which is the essence of “outside the Church there is no salvation”.

This is not elitist, anymore than Christ Himself was an elitist, which we know was not true.

God Bless

Invincible ignorance. LOL! Ahhh, but I am not outside the Church.
I believe that Jesus was born of a Virgin, that He died on the Cross, that He was buried and rose on the third day and that He is seated at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us. I have been baptized and fully practice repentance (turning away from) of sins. I partake in communion, first searching my heart and cleansing my mind, repenting of sins. I confess and gladly, graciously accept the free gift of Grace through the shed blood of Christ. I also fully believe that I will someday dwell in heaven, not because I deserve to but because Jesus paid the price for our sins once and for all and I have accepted Him as Lord and Savior. As Lord, I serve Him and as Savior He has saved us from eternal damnation. His Church is all who believe in and follow Him. True Christians are known by the fruit that they bear. I strive to always bear sweet, ripe, delicious fruit so that anyone who does not know God might see in me something that would encourage them to also want to know Him.

Sounds like you don’t need anybody’s advice on anything then. So why the question?

You can laugh about invincible ignorance if you want. Bottom line, as much as I’m sure Christ is pleased with you personally, with your commitment to walk with Him always, I don’t think He is amused about the schism from His Church your predecessors manifested a few hundred years ago (a broad estimation based on your professed protestantism). Through no fault of your own, I’m sure, the fact remains that you reside outside of authentic, Christ-appointed apostolic teaching. I mean no offense by that. I was once in that position as well, through no fault of my own. These differences and factual proclamations are never meant toward an individual person, rather toward the schismatic bodies to which they cling for guidance.

God Bless
