No. The Levitical laws regarding the priesthood do not apply to Christians. All Catholic priests are taken up into the priesthood of Christ, who is a priest after the order of Melchizedech.

Was genealogy greatly important in Jesus time also before He came? For Jesus had to be of the bloodline of King David, Solomon also, why Matthew and Luke list such? There were many claiming to be the Messiah in Jesus time were there not?
