The "Clown Priest" is so 80s. Anyone up for a "Punk Priest?"

Au contraire, the Clown priest is so 70s; it’s the Punk priest that is so 80s. And just FYI the Goth priest is so 90s and the Gangsta priest is so…so…um… 21st century. (I have no idea what to call the 00s.

Hopefully, in the 00’s it’s the orthodox Priest, such as in my parish.
He is a blast. Young and vibrant. Whether it’s lighting off fireworks for Corpus Christi or hugging all the kiddies, he is the best.
Yet he travels down to our Indult parish to celebrate the TLM and is as pious as they get. We have Historically Catholic NOs that mirror EWTN.

Priests don’t need a gimick if they are genuinely in love with Our Lord.

The Naughts, or if you prefer, the Naughties. And naught seems to be particularly descriptive of what this priest is trying to offer our youth.

At least in his pictures at Mass he’s appropriately vested…

:clapping: Yeah, orthodoxy is attractive, ain’t it? I know we’re a wacky archdiocese, but we have some of the best young orthodox priests anywhere in Frs. Ward, Bustamante, Bloomfield and Riccardo (sorry for any I’ve left out).

It looks more like wacky, faithful, fun-loving priest, who is very comfortable with himself as a person and is very willing to help others. He has his proper vestments when needed, and most likely the proper respec…I really don’t see anything wrong with that.

Seems to me that “punk” is an expression of anti-authority, so a “punk” priest is an oxymoron. If he were in his 20’s or 30’s, that would be one thing, and maybe even OK. But he’s over FIFTY…that makes him just a ridiculous…and artificial…spectacle.

To us ‘yung’uns’ the word punk is more of a fashion statement and type of music than anti-authority (though some would argue with it and could provide evidence). It’s generally the pre-cursor to goth but less extreme and can range in attitude from raging drug addicts and alcoholics to straight edge, which is a punk group who are generally very much in your face that they won’t drink, do drugs, or vandalize anything.

Oh High School, with the nuances of cliches…punk, goth, emo, preps, jocks, geeks (which isn’t even a 'bullied smart guy anymore).

My nephew was a straight edge. He painted his nails black and was into Marilyn Manson. He has since gone on to three sons, a beautiful wife and working two jobs to support them. (he still has a pierced tongue though).

My youngest Goddaughter is also a straight edge. She visited us with purple hair and more piercings than I can count. She was awarded a scholarship to a Catholic High School and just got back from visiting the Vatican.

God Bless straight edges!!!

Did you read his vocation story? He sounds more inspirational than despicable. He seems to be on fire with the love of Christ.

God bless your children…but none of them are supposed to be and act like an alter Christus.

“Alter Christus” (Another Christ) is some of the language that the Church uses to describe the office of an ordained Catholic priest.

The Punk Priest is supposed to be an Alter Christus.
Oh! None of them do.
They are six and eight year old girls.

I read his stuff. He seems quite orthodox in all areas. He seems to be in love with his car a bit though…

Okay, I am the first to admit he seems a little strange. But he doesn’t seem to be teaching anything heretical. At all. Should he dress better? Perhaps, but that is a matter of taste. Maybe the young kids in his parish can relate to him better? Who knows.
