Verisimilitude

Guest
We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Check the statements that you agree with.

I do not have luck with polls. The options were:

The “people” includes any person today within the borders of the United States regardless of legal status.

“People” includes the unborn.

“domestic tranquility” is achieved by lawfully regulating morality.

“common defense” limits the Federal government (federal troops) to defend the US from external threats and insurrections only. Offensive war is prohibited.

“promote the general welfare” indicates the Federal government has the responsibility to provide services such as Social Security and other social safety nets.

“secure the blessings of liberty” is the same as the Declaration’s “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”.

Seat-belt/helmet laws do not infringe upon a persons individuals liberty.

Personal drug possession arrests and prostitution stings are an infringement upon individual liberty.

The “People” have a right to a house, education, job and healthcare.

Our politicians remain faithful to the Constitution and there has been no slow drift away from the founding principles.
