Michael Rowe is a person with a disability due to a motorcycle accident in Sept. of 1982, at the age of 16. After the accident he was in the hospital for several weeks then transferred to an intensive rehabilitation unit, where he learned to clothe and feed himself, and use a wheelchair, do transfers from his wheelchair, and began to gradually walk with a walker. One side of his body is very limited, but he gained strength, gradually increasing his abilities to function in daily life. His speech is affected by the accident, but Michael learned how to communicate quite well despite this and most people could understanding what he wanted to say.

After 4 months of intensive rehabilitation the doctors sent Mike home, and he went on to go to regular school. He was home for 2 years, and then transferred to a foster care boarding school, as it became more difficult for his brother to care for him and work too…

The account of Katie Morris, the nurse who once cared for Michael Rowe, is lengthy. This woman has been fighting since she lost her job at the “rehab” facility in 1998 after asking to many questions. At the time, she made a promise to help these young men held hostage by a corrupt guardianship system. Notice the haunting echoes here of the Terri Schindler Schiavo case. The difference here is, unlike Terri, Michael made considerable progress after his accident. He went to this facility 14 years after the head injury, with the advice of his social worker, to acquire job training and skills for independent living. Never was it his expectation that he would become warehoused for life: deprived of the most basic rights and freedoms.

Judge Philip Harter denied Mike his choice of change of guardian, (from a guardian,Inc. that the Judge himself played a part in setting up)… … after we continued to search court files looking for reasons why this injustice took place… that the truth came out. We discovered that before our petition for change of guardian a 10 million dollar law suit was filed by Guardian, Inc. unbeknown to Michael Rowe, his family . This law suit came out of the fact I filed a formal complaint to the State Licensing Dept, of the abuses and rights violations I witnessed at this facility. The Guardian, Inc. saw an opportunity to use the findings of this state investigation to cash in on a big settlement . But Michael Rowe, the victim of the abuse nor his family nor us knew anything about this. The Judge obviously was involved in the conspiracy as he blatantly violated many laws, to keep Mike incarcerated in a restricted facility, until this settlement took place. Michael Rowe was victimized by the agencies which claim to be his “protectors”.

eastern time… Katie Morris will be interviewed on this Christian T.V. program exposing Michaels situation and pleading for help. The program is called "The Grave Digger Show" and the producer and host is Joe Oreskovich. Joe has been instrumental in getting Mikes story out. I have legal expertise, but caution that it is very difficult to try to draw conclusions from what you read in the media or elsewhere. Before I would try to answer this question I would like to see the complete guardianship file and read transcripts of evidence taken at trial.
