But that isn’t really true. Many parents are embarrassed and don’t want to “beg” for help. They would sooner just enroll their kids in the two years they need to get their sacraments and forgo the whole rest of the process. Also, many families may not consider themselves “poor” enough to qualify for those waivers. They may not realize that they qualify. I don’t really agree that the parents will be come concerned about their kids behavior just because they’re paying money either. Parents who have raised ill-behaved kids don’t all think that way. They might just as soon say, “Why are they complaining about my kids’ behavior, I gave them $200, didn’t I? He’s their problem now.”The higher fees don’t really affect the poorer families at all. Anyone who request a financial waiver in our parish gets one. We don’t even ask for documentation.
