read on and it says
including specific criminal penalties for unmarried women who do
become pregnant “by means other than sexual intercourse.”
That’s in strict accordance to Church teaching and has no side effect of forcing abortion. further more those unnatural reproduction methods should be banned for married couple as well.

why unmarried women need artificial reproduction? one big reason is they’re lesbian.

The topic and the first sentence try to mislead reader into believing “pregnancy by fornication will be punished” which is not the case. natural pregnancies either before or after marriage are NOT punished.

Looks OK to me.
Looks good to me.

I have two questions:
  1. How does the law apply to men who conspire to reproduce with women who are not their wives by means other than sexual intercourse?
  2. How does the law apply to married same-sex partners?

I think that they could end up carrying this law too far. What about single women who want to adopt? Like me! If marriage is a requirement for those who use assisted reproduction, what is to stop them from making it a requirement to adopt or to even have a child? It could be expanded to force abortion. This worries me.

Don’t worry about this. a child needs 2 parents so singles shouldn’t adopt. The law only interferes with unnatural reproduction methods. as I’ve said earlier. pregnancy through sex isn’t punished. it doesn’t force abortion either. why should one introduces pregnancy purposely wants an abortion anyway?

Hmm…if the state, courts and adoption agencies say single people can adopt and be parents this is a non-issue also
😃 There are too many kids out there that need good homes…if a single person is willing to provide that to them all the better!!!

When I first read this, I thought it was a spook like The Onion. That is until I saw the link.

Do I think it is a good idea? No. Because it involves only artificial mean of infertilization (which I think is frowned upon by the Church). There is no penalty for the true way of infertilization.

As for, will it fly? Again, No. I do not think it will pass constitutional muster with the activist courts we have now.

Yes, a child does need 2 parents, but would you deny a child in an orphanage 1 parent? And would you deny a child in foster care 1 parent? Better they float around “in the system” with no one (here on earth, anyway) to give them a home, to love and care for them as a parent should? I am already a single mom and I am hoping to adopt a special-needs child(with AIDS or Down’s Syndrome) and a bi-racial child/child from a foreign country. Maybe all three. I’d prefer to do this as a married woman, but as yet, there is no one on the horizon. So I should not give a child or children a home because I am single?

I say go for it!! It is a wonderful thing that you are doing!!! I wish more single and married people would do this!!!👍 :clapping:

I have no doubt that if such a law passed that the court system would strike it down. Why should the state be so involved in such personal decisions as fertility? And from Repubicans – the champs of small government?

I do hope posters remember that items of personal faith, such as no single people seeking fertility, are passed into law, that other less “fun” items can be legislated when political power shifts. Anyone for taxation of the churches?

Sheesh… what will they think of next? This is one of the worst abuses and attempts by government to pry into the personal lives of people. im glad this bill was nixed.
I am sorry it will not be passed. It is a good step in the right direction. My wish is all these technologies that are used to replace the marital act would be banned.

Fertility is a big term that includes creating life by illicit means and with significant consequences. The state should control it, unfortunately things have strayed too far.

Can a man reproduce with another man, or a woman with another woman? Then they have to go outside their marriage to reproduce, thus violating the proposed law in principle. We wouldn’t have to worry about this if Congress would just get off their fannies and pass a Marriage Protection Law stating that marriage is the legal union of one consenting adult male and one consenting adult female.

Why give a adopted child only one parents when you can give him/her two. study shows children grew up with only one parent often have some kind of personality disorders.

  1. if the law doesn’t prescribe specific punishment for men then only women will be punished. I’m not very clear of the situation
  2. This is a US law, and homosexual partners are not considered “married” in the US so it isn’t a problem at the moment

Becuase not all married infertily couples adopt kids…and even if couples did adopt kids more often there are still too many kids in the system & if they can get out of the system and into a loving and caring home with a single parent I would think that is better!
