I know that Christ gave Peter, the first Pope, the keys (plural) of the Kingdom of Heaven. Those keys are depicted on the Papal Seal. The keys symbolize authority, but why are there two, one gold and one silver, on the Seal?

They represent the power to bind and to loose on earth (silver) and in heaven (gold).

The crossed keys form an “X” which is the first letter of Christ’s Name in Greek.
