According to Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel:
I can’t find the quote I was looking for, but it went: “The cure for bad religion is good religion, certainly not no religion. Just as the cure for bad science is good science and not the abandonment of it.”
“when religion speaks only in the name of authority rather than with the voice of compassion–its message becomes meaningless.” [in other words, this what can be taken to mean with the biblical reference “faith without works” or “without love, a soundless gong”.(1 Corinthians 13:14).
Nearly 6 years ago I read the speech of a Catholic headboy who quoted Benedict XVI saying “just because everyone is doing something, doesn’t mean that it is right.” It is quite a rare occurrence to come across people like this. I hope that he continues to promote the Church values in higher, secular education.
Our religion should be focused on the Eucharist. Try keep it simple and not a burden.
