I think there is something inherently creepy in anonymous letters…so either have the courage of your convictions, or mind your own business…
The anonymous letter is not a good idea, in my opinion. Either stand by your own words, or don’t speak (write) them at all. If someone sent me a letter passing judgment on me for being and professing Catholic, while sinning, I’d be very put off. Unless Jesus Christ Himself sent me that letter, then the ‘sinner’ writing the letter is judging my sins to be worse than his, and how could he know that, and why?I’m trying to recall a verse that helped me in the past. It goes something like “From out of the heart, the tongue speaks.”, so if I found myself using bad language, then how much worse was my inner condition. The bad language is just a symptom of underlying spiritual disorder, though one must overcome the symptom in order to examine the cause. This is something one has to do for themselves. You can pray for this person, and you could perhaps send an anonymous letter to perhaps get them thinking about their language. Being directly and personally confrontational would probably be unwise.
Christ will judge at Judgement Day; today is not our day to judge. Are we sinless? Shall we ask our brethren to condemn us, to tell us of our every sin, to humiliate us for our shortcomings? The other day I went to an individual 's office to have some professional services done. I was told this person had a very bad mouth. This individual used his/her fowl tongue as a means of humor, all the while insulting her clients. While in her/his office I noticed he/she had some Catholic photographs up on her wall. One was of Christ, one of Mary and one of Padre Pio. I took his/her offensive tongue as a humorous and her way of “endearing” himself/herself to me. But the more I think of it, the more concerned I am. For this individual to have these Catholic images her/his office yet have such a fowl tongue causes me to pause. Christ said we shall give an account for every word we utter. What is going to happen to this individual at Judgement Day? I know it’s not for me to judge this person. However, I can’t help but wonder if his individual might have some demonic stronghold on her/his life. I really don’t know. But the more I think of it, the more this person needs my prayers. What do you think?
If you choose not to do business with her, that’s fine.
I personally can have a sharp or sarcastic tongue at times, although it’s much better than it used to be. Was there a demonic stronghold on my life? Um, no. No more than any other sinner. And unless you were my husband, my son, or my best friend or VERY VERY close family member, it would be wrong for you to butt in, since you don’t know the circumstances, but are judging on this isolated incident.
Sometimes, the things that bother us most in others, do so because it triggers something in ourselves that we dislike or are concerned about in ourselves. I don’t know if that is true for you, but it’s something to think about.
