I have no interest in reading the book or seeing the movie.

I would not watch that movie because it would only bring sadness to my heart.

A year ago I was in a good relationship with a girl who was pulled between the religion of her father (catholic) and that of her mother (anglican) .

When I found out that her mother purchased that book and gave it to her, I was disturbed. It was clear to me that her mother was worried that my faith would pull her daughter closer to the catholic religion. She wanted to read it so that she could learn about the untold “truths” about the catholic church.

To make a long story short that book provoked the end of my relationship with her.

From my perspective that book is a tool of satan.

All I can do now is pray for her

I have seen a lot of people “convinced” by the fiction in that book. The majority that are convinced are those that alvready had doubts or despise the Church. Brown will be humbled by God. Ron Howard will also for making this movie. Wait and see. In time.
 
I will not see this movie. Why make someone rich that trashes our faith? Go see Batman Begins it was excellent.
 
I do want to see it. I don’t know If I’ll wait until it comes out on video or not. I don’t want the authors and screenwriters to make tons of money off of something that is based on lies

The reason I want to see it is I work with individuals and know friends that will see it and ask me about it. I believe I can defend the faith without seeing it but I think I can understand where they are coming from if I see the movie.

I want see it from a Catholic Apologists angle. I’m still praying about it.
 
I’d go and put as many apologetic pamphlets debunking the Da Vinci Code in as many seats and bathroom stalls as possible!!😃
 
Not only will I not watch it but I’d be happy to stand outside a theatre and hand out tracks against it!
 
I have absolutely no interest in seeing this movie (or reading the book for that matter). I’d rather spend my money on “Madagascar” anyway…
 
I have thought about it.

I read the book, so I know what the movie will contain. Obiously it is the worst kind of psuedo-intellectual material, with all the things that Shakespeare said the masses love (sex, violence and the supernatural).

On the other hand, I want to make sure I am familiar with what unbelieving (or on the fence) family and friends may be seeing, so I can better address the heaps of misinformation they will experience. I have two college-aged younger brothers for whom I am working and praying hard to help keep from sinking into that atheist/agnostic quagmire that college tends to promote.

I suppose, though, that since I read the book I could address the issues adequately without having to see the movie as well, so I will likely skip it.

Watched the History Channel a few nights ago. They did a wonderful job of showing that The Da vinci Code is FICTION!! A copy of the show may be available . Well worth watching this in order to defend the faith. The name of the show is Beyond The Da Vinci Code.

I dont know, I just cant stand the idea of giving these guys my money. I own a Catholic Book store, and people are falling for the garbage in this book. Catholics that should know better!

Anyway Iam not going to see it, no way no how!

I understand it like this. We as a society seem to be concerned with what we put inside our bodies. We dont want anything to go inside that is not healthy. So why would we watch something we know is not good for the soul? Garbage that eats our mind and soul?

Like most of the sewage that comes out of Hollywood these days, I have no desire to see the movie when it comes out.

The last two movies I have seen in the theater I do not consider to be from Hollywood. Those were the Passion, and the Therese movie.

Actually, it might be possible that a movie would highlight the fictional nature of the book instead of creating more believers in the Mary Magdaline theories. Too often, I think, people have a tendency to believe what’s written in a book just because it’s in writing. If the story was in movie form, it might be harder to deny what a fantasy it is!

good idea - but no, I don’t think the movie theaters would allow this because it would end up as trash on their floor.

I have zero desire to read a book or watch a movie that is nothing but lies about the One I love more than my life itself.

Besides, didn’t some Bishops say that as Catholics, we were not to read the book? Certainly that would include watching the movie?

Did they say that? I waded through it so I could know what to say if friends brought it up, but all I remember about it now is somebody getting shot in a car.
The theology and history didn’t impress me, and the writing was execrable.

I like Tom Hanks.

I am going to wait and see if it gets good reviews. If it does, I am going to see it.

Why not? I can go see National Treasure without believing or endorsing the belief that there is a treasure map on the back of the Declaration of Independence. I can see “War of the Worlds” without endorsing the belief that ravenous aliens are going to come and eat our children.

I feel pretty certain that this movie will get good reviews. Any movie that puts holes in the Catholic Churches beliefs, well they’re salivating right now.:mad:
 
I’ve read the book - one dimensional characters, bad writing, polemic and anti-catholic references. Why do I now need to waste another ten bucks for an even worse experience. Instead, I would recommend taking that ten bucks and spending it on a good book that completely refutes Dan Brown’s ludicrous drivel: The DiVinci Hoax by Meisel and Olsen.
