I’m sure some of you have read this gem. You know, the one where the guy in the hut calls himself the pope and invents the “Jesus cookie”. Did they make this for five-year olds or what? I mean, “The Jesus Cookie?”

Yeah, Chick has been putting out those ridiculous anti-catholic comic tracks for a while. He needs prayers.
 
Incredible. I get some of these pamphlets in my mailbox sometimes. One day I found one called “the last rites” in our Adoration Chapel. Don’t know how it got there since we have a security code that only adorers know.

By the way, wasn’t Ra the Egyptian god sun?

and Egyptians who use wafers that, through transubstantiation become god? Sounds too good to be true for anti-Catholics.

The sad thing about Chick Tracts, funny as they are, is that their cult following earnestly thinks Chick’s publications are REALLY going to save them. Why on earth are people so blind?

Google Jack Chick to get a better understanding of how twisted his world is. Anti-Catholicism is the last socially acceptable prejudice. Sadly, many people read his cartoons and accept them as fact. You don’t have to go far in the history books to see similar propaganda - by the most notorious sources.
 
If I had a nickle for every Jack Chick tract I have File 13’d over 30 years of working, I’d be a wealthy man. There are no more deceitful, hateful tracts (other than Tony Alamo’s pieces of work) in a public office. I have zero tolerance for these and I have confronted co-workers and subordinates that I find passing them out. Most are incredibly red-faced when confronted. It is far easier to pass these out surreptitiously than to take account for the incredibly rich amount of factual error you can find in these tracts.
 
I first read that decades ago when I was a Baptist. Anyone with a modicum of discernment could see that Jack Chick was more a propagandaist than evangelist (or historian, for that matter).

I drive a truck. and was unloading and this guy pulls up with a trk. and on the back of his cab was a bible verse, it was something from Isaiah… So I ask about it and we begin to speak of the Bible, (having spent 12 yrs of Bible study as a protestant I have a good grasp of) He finds out I’m Catholic and we go our way… the next time I see him, he came over and gave me that ‘death cookie’ tract… I read it, looked at him, and said if you are Bible professing ‘born again’ Christian, how can you spread this **** around? He treated that tract like it was a gospel which was disappointing to ay the least. What people can pass off as the truth?

                      Actually' Anti-Catholism' is the oldest bias in the United States, If you read the History of the start of the 18th and 19th centuries you'll find Catholics being whipped in the streets for refusing to read out of Protestant Bibles and other such nonsense.

That doesn’t surprise me. This country was founded by Protestants, and many of those protestants were Masons, who as well all know, hate the Catholic Church.

I remember reading the autobiography of Benjamin Franklin, and noting the angry tone in which he wrote about “popism” and other such things.

Even so, I highly doubt Benjamin Franklin would consider Jack Chick’s publications worth the paper and ink used to print them.

Hi John,

Yes, I’m aware of the history of anti-Catholicism in your country. It pains me in fact as I am a very strong supporter of the original idea of America, the one the Founding Fathers had. Unfortunately, there are some ugly pages in the US history books, but then again most countries have something they are not proud of. Remember that Jesus and the martyrs endured much worse than we’ve experienced.

Ben Franklin, I read awhile back he was what we call today a Humanist, He is credited with the quote, “The Bible says, 'God helps those who help themselves.”

Which those who read the Bible know, that’s not true! God helps those who turn to Him.

The problem I’ve found with ‘foaming at the mouth Fundamentalists’ is they set themselves up as mini-religions: Church, Pope, Majesterium, clergy, congregation, the whole thing. Their main opposition is the Catholic Church; an institution which has a central heirarchy and adherence to obedience, authority, and tradition. They have fallen victim to the sin of pride; Satan tempted their ego. We share some commonalities such as a love for Christ, the war against abortion and others, yet they are a long way from returning home.

They are haters of the true Faith. Notice how alot of the post are nothing but “proof” of the “false church” lol. If they feel they are right, then why so much hate? Why so much fear to a church they claim is not truth?

Pray for those poor souls so that one day they will find the True path.
