Hello everyone, this is my first post.

On February 9th, 2013, my father passed unexpectedly at the age of 49. I’m a young woman in my early 20’s, and the grief is over whelming. Since my fathers passing, I find myself wanting to be more religious than I’ve ever been. I need God, I want to feel our Father even more than I do now. I accept what he has chosen for my family, and I thank him everyday for taking my father into his arms and freeing him from pain.

I was never given the gift of Baptism, nor have I received communion. I have the utmost faith in our Lord but sometimes I feel that I can’t get closer with Christ because of this. I also am not positive if I should even ask of Him. An example would be asking for help with the easing of grief, and my pain. Would asking for this nullify my trust in what His life plan is for me?

And please, if you have any advice for me- I would very much appreciate it. I never realized the death of a parent would hurt so much.

I am so deeply sorry so sorry about this. I lost my mother at a very young age and i can sympathize with you.

Yes, seek to meet with a priest, first he will help you with your grieve and point you in the right direction about RCA class.

I pray for you to feel at peace, comfort and love!

Was your dad a Catholic? If he was, you might contact the parish priest. Short term counseling might be a wise choice (and I don’t mean by the priest). I know it’s hard to lose a parent. Especially at that age. As far as with the priest, you can discuss with him your desire for baptism and communion. He may suggest you go to RCIA classes, which usually start up in September. Attending mass, while not receiving communion, is also a good idea if you aren’t going already. Follow the call that God has placed on your heart, he will lead you into a greater love.

Sorry for you’re loss. The only advise I have is to make an appointment with a Priest, He will know where to start.
Visit a/youre Parish and maybe just sit for a while in the presence of The Lord and pray.

I lost my wonderful father in a deadly accident.
It’s going to take 1-2 years before you start to feel normal at all.
The pain will never go away, you’ll just be more able to live through
it as time goes by and our faith is the only gift which will preserve you.

Your local parish or a parish near you surely has a Grief Support group.
Find out and go. I did not go, but my mother did.
