Segments of this article about Anglicans fighting back for kneeling were read during the Homily for Corpus Christi, then Father expanded on it to include genuflection and bowing. It includes comments on Catholics and kneeling (or lack thereof).

Here is the article and I thought we could get some discussion going.

One thing that Father Eusebius at Assumption Grotto in Detroit mentioned is that when straight the knee is considered a sign of strength. But, when bent it is a sign of humility. I thought this was an interesting comment and this Catholic took it to heart.

I was one of those people who took to standing or sitting if given a choice and recently rediscovered kneeling upon landing at Assumption Grotto. It just seemed right to offer God this humble gesture. Lemme tell you, these knees are highly untrained.

With that article read and additional words, I’m grateful for the fact that Father took my early thoughts and fully developed them into favor of kneeling.

I will also add that I was put to shame by a girl of about nine when I saw how purposefully she genuflected. She did not appear to be “acting” the part, this little girl was so serious, yet peaceful and deliberate - like an angel. We are all instruments of God and He used a little girl to teach me how to show Him proper respect.

This is similar to CS Lewis’s argument, that our emotions often FOLLOW the body, not the other way around, and that just as laying down will make you sleepy, kneeling will make you humble.

Try laughing. Fake it. Soon you will find you are actually happy.

Hey, I like that reasoning 👍

Could we add sitting makes you comfortable and complacent.
Several churches in this area sit during the consecration 😦
