I keep in mind for myself —God – have mercy on me – a sinner.
Amen! (By the way, my comment you quoted was said tongue-in-cheek. But still the important thing is that we are trying to live to God’s standards/rules, not man’s.

I also keep in mind — that only God really knows each person – their past – present – and future. Those that may not look like they are living by God standards to me —fallible person that I am-- may actually get to heaven ahead of me.

Amen, again! 👍 And I hope my fellow brethren will mercifully admonish me when I appear to be falling, lest I should go astray. And in return, I will help my fellow brethren by admonishing lest they should fall as well. For, God has made us our brothers’ keepers. 👍

Truth is, there is a very VERY miniscule number of people who would actually say that I looked raunchy and was inciting lust on my wedding day. (Most of which reside in this website, and 0 of which I come into contact with in the real world)
I think that’s an unfair and uncharitable characterization of people. It makes it seem like A> that people on this website are not representative of actual people and B> that anyone who doesn’t agree with you is a member of some fringe group of believers who frequent this site in particular.

While I agree there are very few people who would think you looked raunchy on your wedding day, I think you were dressed very nicely and in a very acceptable fashion, to indicate that this website attracts those who think you would is just a baseless accusation.

Yes – when the urge to admonish rises – care must be taken. It may be more driven by – pride masquerading a virtue.

You are right that I cannot maek women share the blame when a man looks lustfully at them. But God does hold them accountable. That is why I posted (as did Nate13) the Catechism reference. A woman (as well as a man) must make a well-informed decision about how to dress, because if they purposefully dress to attract attention, or knowing that their clothing is likely to get lustful attention, they are leading others into sin. This is God’s view on it, not mine.

Yes, my counsins learned they needed to dress so as to attract men’s attention. Their parent’s are partially to blame for that, and are accountable. As adults, they are also now acountable for how they dress, knowing that men are looking at them immodestly (and yes, they know this).

“…but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” (Matt 18:6, NAS Bible). These are not my words, or my opinion. This is Christ speaking .
If only men show more attention when we dress burqa !! In a way men will be held accountable as well regarding our taste nowadays. So… in the end who’s fault? 🤷

You guys think that the law can save you, you have fallen from grace. You will treat catholic women, the way muslims treat theirs.

I try to always dress modestly and always have. Now, don’t get me wrong, I have regrettably sinned in this area in the past but I do not do so anymore.
Unlike you, I have never commit sin in this area. I do not dress to arouse men’s purposefully. I just dress to look my best. According to my criteria, I have dressed modestly all of my life. However, I do now that I am very very pretty. Men (and even women) look at me. How’s that my fault? Tell me about it. I have dealt with this all of my life.

I just know that what others think of me is not under my control. And man, I know what “holy” slanders mean.

I don’t think Debra – was trying to be uncharitable to this site. I think it just has come to her as a surprise – that here – she has encountered the reactions by some --that she has. Something she was not familiar with — coming from Brazil and now living in Florida.

Jesus would seem to think there is a new level of severity when we cause someone else to sin as opposed to when we sin ourselves. Its called scandal. If our actions cause someone to gravely sin, our own sin of scandal also becomes a grave sin. Both the man and the woman will be fully held accountable for the gravity of this sin in this case.

Think of it like this:

man lusts after modestly dressed woman - man is fully accountable for his sin of lust. Woman commits no sin.

man lusts after immodestly dressed woman - man is fully accountable for his sin of lust. Woman is fully accountable for the sin of scandal. I think the problem is we think of it is as splitting the blame for the sin of lust and that is not the case at all. The mans sin remains the same while the woman is accountable for an entirely different sin. The seriousness of the sin of scandal though is based on seriousness of the sin the scandal causes.

This obviously works both ways and includes much more than fashion. Anytime we misuse influence we have to watch out for this.

All she said was that a very small number of people on CAF thought that she looked raunchy at her wedding and no one she knows in the non internet world she lives in has said so. It is a fact that people say things on the internet they would never say face to face. This is not peculiar to CAF.
