It depends on your definition of ‘slavery’.

I would claim that it is "OK’ for a judge to have a civil offender pick up trash for a week. Or to have a government require 18 year olds to spend a weekend planting trees in a local park.

That would be unpaid, compelled labor. Is that slavery?
