Two things to share on this US Independence Day.

The first is the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence by the hosts and contributors at National Public Radio (NPR). It’s a beautifully produced reading of an amazing document. :+1:t4:

The second is a performance of “Yorktown” from the musical Hamilton. The Battle of Yorktown ended the Revolutionary War. This performance starts with George Washington (on the left) and Alexander Hamilton (on the right), just FYI.

Enjoy! 🎇🎆 🇺🇸 🎆🎇

When I was a little kid, I called it the Decoration of Independence because it used to be popular to hang up a copy on the wall.

One of the things I love about the musical Hamilton is that it’s gotten a lot of younger people learning and talking about American history, about freedom and its cost, and about the documents (i.e., the Constitution) that form our government. My son was 14 when we saw the show, and his US History teacher could not say enough about how knowledgeable he was about American history and Constitutional law!

I credit his love of Hamilton for starting that ball rolling. The show made it cool to learn more. :+1:t4:
