My sister and I were talking about the diary of St. Faustina one day. We’re both reading it, as time permits. But we started wondering… were the words of Our Lord, within the diary meant for St. Faustina alone? Or… since Faustina was ordered by her confesser to write the diary (and thereby, make it available… one day… to all people)… could it be that the words in the diary are meant for all of us? I have heard it said… that when the priest speaks to a person, in the confessional… he is speaking for Jesus. It seems, that it would be logical then… that Jesus wanted the diary to be made public.

Now, we both realized that there are certain conversations within the diary… that were unmistakenly meant just for St. Faustina. And yet, there are other places… where the words of Jesus, seem to be spoken in a general sense. Those are the passages… that we’re wondering about. Do you folks think that they were meant for all of us? There is one place, I’m particularly wondering about… where Our Lord told Faustina not to omit Holy Communion, unless her sins were very serious. But I always thought that we should not receive Holy Communion with even minor sins on our souls. So, that passage may have been meant just for St. Faustina. I’m confused.

We’re interested in the opinons of anyone who has read the Diary of St. Faustina. What do you folks think? (Just to note: we also realize that the Diary of St. Faustina is considered “private revelation”… and is not to be compared to Holy Scripture).

St. Faustina is in the Church triumphant, the communion of Saints. Her writings are meant for us. This is the hour of mercy. There where times when I was reading her diary, that the Lord spoke to me through her, without a doubt. Inspired words are timeless and the Lord knows exactly when He can reach you, even from 1938. I am afraid that was your misunderstanding. The Church has taught not to receive the Eucharist if one committed mortal sin. Venial sins are forgiven during Mass.

Words from Jesus are the truth. Truth, unless particular addressed to a specific person for a specific reason, can be applied to us all. I find St. Faustina’s Diary very inspiring. Both what Jesus said and St. Faustina’s own reflections are helpful to my spirituality and working toward holiness.

If you turn to the last page of the “Chronology of Events”, you will see this quote:
**
“My daughter, be diligent in writing down every sentence I tell you concerning My mercy, because this is meant for a great number of souls who will profit from it.”**

This is taken from Diary #1142.

Oh, thank you everyone! This is very helpful.

To Inlight… thanks especially. There is never a doubt in my mind that Jesus speaks only the truth. But I didn’t know how His words, in private revelation were held… with official Church teaching. That is were my sister and I were having the difficulty. But the 3 of you have cleared it up for me. And I know she will agree… when she reads your replies. So… thanks very much! And God bless. 🙂

I believe that her Diary was examined about anything contrary to the Faith, but nothing against it was found.

Therefore, even though it is private revelation, it’s a good reading for the faithful.

I think that someone said that even though no trustful apparitions nor private revelations bring any new teaching, they do bring new graces.

:blessyou:

I think that the church teaches that you should only receive the body and blood of CHrist if you are clean of mortal sin. If you have just commited venial sins then you should say the act of contrition before receiving the body and blood
