Interesting article. But I think that “discovery” is the wrong word. The fact that there were three persons in one God was revealed to us by Christ, in that he revealed Himself as Son of God and equal to the Father, and also the Holy Spirit as a distinct person. But he didn’t put that into doctrinal form. The church developed the language to better express the doctrine when it was challenged.
