The Divine Office for Dodos: A Step by Step Guide to Praying the Liturgy of the Hours by Madeline Pecora Nugent

I was wondering if anyone has heard of this book and if they would know where to get a copy. On the official website they said that they are out of print and won’t be republished until August of this year. I checked other places and on amazon.com the only one they have is $50.00!!!

I am learning the Divine Office now and I wanted an easy guide to learn, but I can’t wait until August.

Oh that would be SO awesome! I have a guide to praying the Liturgy of the Hours, but it is so confusing, I have all but given up!!! If anyone knows where to find this book, PLEASE let us know!!!
 
I found a website divineofficefordodos.com/ that says a third edition of the book (with some new material) will be published in August. So be patient for just a little while longer … (I’ll bet that the inflated prices of those used books will come way down when the new edition comes out!)

Currently they are down but I will try later. I was really looking for something easy and maybe even entertaining for my poor unintelligent brain, lol, but maybe I’ll have to learn like everyone else. The hard way:)

When I started praying the LOTH, I asked one of my parish priests to help me. He agreed and I found it better than any book. I’m sure the book would be helpful, but you can always see if your priest has time. It took about 10 minutes. Best of luck! Don’t give up…it’s completely worth the effort.
 
I learned to pray the LOTH from the Dodos book and recommend it to anyone who wishes to learn how to do this prayer. I also recommend the purchase of an Ordo which will set out the feasts and weeks of the psalter for your country. While you are waiting for the new edition of Dodos try this instruction site.

If you get the yearly Guide for the Liturgy of the Hours it tells you exactly what pages you should be using each day. It is only about $2

Honestly, even it can be unclear sometimes. That’s why I always print a copy of this schedule every month.

I found THIS site very easy to use and it confirms I’m on the right page and saying the right prayers. Useful also to just use the prayers online. Has a USA and European calander.

But it is NOT the official LOTH. It not only doesn’t quite follow the ordo, but it’s not suitable for liturgical use (see their FAQ). Of course, it’s quite fine for private recitation.

Unfortunately, the only official LOTH online, ebreviary.com/, is available by subscription only, although some of the canonical hours are available for free.

I have my own breviary which I use, I don’t use thier site for the prayers as such, just to cross check I’m on the right psalter week etc when I lose track by not praying the hours every day like I try to - but I’m getting better 😃
