Could be. Here’s another fine mess.

And, as of around 1830 last night, the image is wrong. No beard. I now look like my father on a bad day.

Precisely. I pick up the uniform Monday. AFAIK, I have all the bits and pieces, and they are correct for this model. Some new, some from my day.

Now all I have to remember is to salute 33 year old Lt. Cols.

When were you discharged? My dad was in Vietnam starting in 66. He went back to the Reserves in 1980 and retired in 2003 or 2004, can’t remember. My dad was no 90-day wonder officer; he started as a private and worked his way all the way up to Sgt. First Class if memory serves. He was a truck driver for years then in charge of entire convoys then driving instructor for the last several years. I’m proud of him. I’m glad he has Tri-Care, too! LOL

I was never discharged. I’m still, technically, in the Air Force. But I was relieved from active duty, and retired, as of midnight, 30 September, 1988. I well remember that night. At one minute past midnight, I woke my wife, to tell her she was sleeping with a civilian.

I just transitioned from Tricare Prime, to Tricare for life, 1 August. Which means I no longer get that free, lifetime military health care I was promised, in 1965. I’m on Medicare, now, and on my own, to get the doctors.

Thank your dad for me, for his service to our country.

I’m still fuzzy on “relieved from duty, retired but not discharged.” Jim is a master of verbage and leaving me hanging! 😛 Half of my posts on CAF through the years are “huh?'s” to GKC’s posts LOL…He’s too far above my humble head 😛

Retired officers are still officially part of the military, but not on active duty, and on half pay. (that’s what our retirement pay is for). Theoretically, I am still subject to recall to active duty, though the odds are vanishingly small that would happen, and were, as early as the first Gulf war, when my wife was concerned I might be.

See, I knew there was an explanation! 😛

I’m a sixth grade public school teacher. Right now I’m active but subject to three furloughs. Good times! 👍:rolleyes:

I would tend to agree about GKC…I would have to add to my brain capacity to read his recommending reading …

GKC, congratulations now that you are now part of us civilians…my son is now finished with Air Force so I know the stories about us civvies…

I thank you. I’ve been a civvie for 22 years now. Which is 2 years more than I wore the uniform. Thank your son for his service to our country.

To the initial question, “The Early Church: If They Weren’t Catholic, What Were They?”, I’d like to give the answer: If they were not Catholic, they were also Orthodox. Of course, most Catholics and Orthodox would agree that this is true. How I wish for the Christian faith to be unified once again. 🙂

I’ve been a civilian since just before Christmas - a bit of a weird feeling. I decided to do something wild to mark the occasion, so I think I am going to get a nose piercing. I considered dying my hair blue, but I don’t have the time to fiddle with my hair these days, the new baby is still keeping me busy. His 7 month birthday is today.
 
A nose piercing? :confused:🤷 Why don’t you knock back a couple of brewskies instead of poking holes in your shnoz! 😛
