Hey Y’all!

Does anyone know of any resources (reliable books/websites) that deal with the early Christian’s celebration of the Mass? I’m doing a research paper on how the worship of the early Christians (namely, the Mass) is essentially the same as the celebration of the Mass today. I know of Mike Aquilina’s “Mass of the Early Christians”, but I’m not so sure if there are any other good resources.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

God Love You!

I don’t know other than primary sources.

For primary sources I would start Justin Martyr’s description of the mass, then with the Liturgy of St James, St Cyril of Jerusalem’s description of the mass, and the Liturgy of John Chrysostom.

All of those are pretty easy to google.

Prayers of the Eucharist by Jasper is what we used in my graduate liturgical studies classes. It contains actual texts of the Mass from early on.

Also check out the “Didache”. Can even be found in e-book form for a Kindle.
