There in lies the problem. This reinvention of the Vigil has fallen woefully short.Should absolutely reflect that everything is done for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Liturgy of the Word and to the glory of God.
I didn’t know there was a Holy Thursday Vigil mass.So why not attend Holy Thursday Vigil at another of those 3 Churches? You are only punishing yourself by keeping away from your favourite night.
I am not sure of the Official terms. We have Mass, watch, night prayerHoly Thursday Vigil mass.
You may not agree with or like this practice, but if the child was entering the church through the RCIC process, all the sacraments of initiation can be given at once. Not all priests handle the initiation of children this way, but it is permissible under the rites.I did serve with this new priest for three years. Last year I gave up, handle it any more. The last year I served, we confirmed a six year old.
Whilst other things are an issue, this is not. Restored order of the Sacraments mans that entire dioceses are confirming shortly after the age of reason, before communion…so 7-9 year olds.I did serve with this new priest for three years. WHAT!!?!?!?This discussion reminds of the time a few years ago when I was lector for the mass and the priest, calling me by name, asked in a loud voice, “We’re running a little long here, do you think we should skip saying the Creed?” To which I shrugged and said, “sure”. And the father did. My take is priests run the show and call the shots.
Well, at least that means the priest is doing something right!!The last year I served, we confirmed a six year old.
