In this thread, I would like to share to everyone the effect of Divine Mercy Novena into my Soul. If anyone has his/her own testimony to share, please feel free to share them

Please don’t everyone respond at the same time. It may jam the server…

Franjos, I think this discussion would be far more appropriate for the Spirituality section.

I just started praying the Divine Mercy a few days ago. The problem that I’m having is that I don’t know what to focus on while I’m praying it. During the Rosary, I know my mind is supposed to be contemplating whatever Mystery I’m praying at the time, but what do I focus on during the Divine Mercy?

When I pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet I try to focus on the Passion and death of Jesus.

Often, I recite this prayer after making the Stations of the Cross, so then I just try to concentrate on begging for God’s mercy for all mankind.

I try to inform others of this devotion-sadly, many Catholics do not understand the special benefits and grace that Jesus offers in this-others just shake their heads because they do not understand indulgences, or have not been properly catechized about temporal punishment.

I usually focus on the Lord’s Mercy for whatever intention I pray for. This prayer is so effective that when I heard that my spiritual director’s aunt was dying, I prayed the Chaplet for her. My spiritual director got there less than one half of an hour before her death…and she passed away at exactly 3;00 PM. Thank you Jesus!

I was just going to add about the importance of praying The Divine Mercy at 3:00 p.m. for Gods mercy especially for sinners. Mercy for the whole world.

I love this prayer because it is so short. I know someone whose watch “rings” at 3:00 to remind him to do this prayer. 🙂

When I was in Israel the last time, I felt inspired every day to ask the time of day…and it was always 3PM!🤷

Isn’t it amazing how the Holy Spirit whispers in your ear…
😃

There was a time where I prayed the Divine Mercy prayer everyday at 3:00 and it’s like you instinctivly know the exact time. 3:00 p.m. will never mean anything else.
:blessyou:

I like praying the Divine Mercy when it’s on EWTN in the afternoons. The problem with that is that it’s on at 3 o’clock Eastern, which is 2 pm my time. Do you think this is a big deal or something I should worry about?

Oh no, not at all 🙂 It is so pleasing to Our Lord and to sinners that you are praying it for them. As Brother Ernest ( a Franciscan Brother) used to say, “there is no bad time to pray the Rosary or Chaplet of Divine Mercy”

Well, I’m very glad someone “shook this tree”. I’ve been wondering about the Divine Mercy for a while and this has already helped me out immensely.

Yes, it’s very good to pray it in front of dying people because Jesus has promised that He will stand between His Father and the dying person, not as the just Judge but as the Merciful Savior and there are more about it…
God bless

Praise be to God…🙂

Thank you everyone for posting your replies in here. But what we are looking here for actual experiences while praying the novena (9 days). For example ‘what did you feel’ and ‘what happened to your prayers’.

I guess it is time to share now my own experiences in this Novena:
  1. Firstly, I always find peace everytime I pray this novena. I find rest from temptations, rest from troubles, rest from confusions and doubts. There is one instant, few months ago, that before praying the novena, everything in me is in chaos, troublesome, full of temptations, disorganized, and i should say total darkness. And then when I started praying, all of them was replaced with peace and light and divine inspirations.
  2. Secondly, I was able to pray the novena (9 days) to my dying mother last year. And I have reasons to believe she was just waiting for me to finish the novena. So I finished it on her last night. After entrusting her soul to the Lord that night, the next day she passed away. A few weeks later, I read in the diary of Saint Faustina that praying this novena is very good for the dying people. The Lord Himself will defend that soul against the enemy. It was really amazing!
  3. One time, I was praying the novena for my 5 year old son because he was becoming naughty. And he was getting into trouble in the school with other kids. Temptations always lurk around because on the 4th to 5th day of the novena my son became sick. I could not understand how these things could have happened while I am inside a novena. So I almost stopped the novena, but then I realized I should finish it. So I urged myself to finish the novena despite what happened and to tell myself entrust everything to the Lord God. And then eventually he gets well. On the eight day my son had a very very bad dream. He saw a giant monster (which he said looks like me) trying to step on him. So he woke up, in the middle of the night, afraid and crying. So, my wife and I explained to him that he should pray every night to stop the bad dreams. He must also be a good boy so the devil would not come closer to him. Since then, he is now praying every night. And I saw the sudden changes in his personality. He suddenly became a very obedient, kind and prayerful boy these days.
  4. My wife is 3 1/2 months pregnant now, but due to history of miscarriage, she must be completely “bed rest” for the first quarter. Recently, she is feeling more pain inside her womb, that gives us fear of losing the child. So, I prayed the novena again for her and the baby 12 days ago. Temptations came in again : On the sixth day, she felt the pain inside the womb more frequently. On the seventh upto the eight day, she started vomiting for six hours continiously. Again, the spirit of doubt came in to me to force me to stop the prayers, and to doubt my prayers and the novena. But everytime I say “I trust in You” I regain my strength. I continued and on the ninth day, I accompanied her to her Obegyne and remarkably, the doctor said everything is perfectly OK. As a proof, the doctor lifted the “bed rest” sanction and now my wife is perfectly normal. Isn’t it amazing?
  5. The novena gives me the grace of completely trusting in the will of Our Lord God in my life.
And experiencing those things myself, have urged me to start this thread in this forum as a token of my thankfulness to the Divine Mercy of Our Lord Jesus.
