But works of Tolkien are very heavily rooted in Catholic theology, “a real mythos” if you will (of course with admixtures of Nordic mythology and Old English legends).
Norse is Catholic?
Or do you feel Norse paganism is “Conquered” and therefore folded into the harmless category of our collective mental state?

Norse is Catholic?
Norse mythology was a part of Tolkien’s linguistic interests and his professor work at Cambridge.
He adored the mythos and stories, not really the pagan cult part, the same way as we learn in school the Greek mythology — not to worship the Olimp’s Pantheon of gods after finishing education, but to draw valuable lessons that it certainly contained. Tolkien’s novels are inherently Catholic, but this has been hidden under many elements that constitute his world. Those elements are based, or perhaps it is better to say they sprouted from Old English + Norse legends. They were undoubtedly a great inspiration as amazing sets of stories, parts of history and literature pieces.

I humbly suggest reading more about Tolkien and maybe read up his astoundingly beautiful Silmarillion.

This is known and not related to my questions clearifying the implication that Norse lore serves into being catholic.

You imply I haven’t. I humbly suggest you refrain from assuming people have not read, or studied something till you ask.

I don’t appreciate the appropriation of my lore as “Catholic”

Would by remastered Morrowind in a heartbeat. Esp for Xbox One. No longer have a gaming PC - although if, as I hear they release an updated version of Myst for PC, will definitely consider going back to PC.

On a side note, and getting more off topic here, I hear they are creating a TV series based on Myst.

Back on topic, regarding ESO community, you get all sorts. The guild I’m most active in is probably mostly atheistic, but respectful. They know my wife is a theologian and have been very accepting.

Erundil is not appropriating your lore as “Catholic”. They are saying that Tolkien took non-religious themes, heroic strophes, cultural elements and narrative structure from Norse lore and used them as a setting for Catholic theological and moral themes. Tolkein has described his works as primarily a “Christian world without Christ”.

He based his development of Middle Earth on the unique mix of cultures arising from the various waves of Norse settlement of England. Each one brought a slightly different culture, but were eventually converted to Christianity. The Norse religion faded amongst these peoples, but values and cultural affectations still lingered, creating a diverse and rich social environment.

In his studies, Tolkein traced these Norse influences through the ages to classic elements of modern English culture. Many of the legends surrounding the Knights of the Round Table trace their roots in themes taken from mythical elements in Norse lore. He even went so far as to translate Sir Gawain and the Green Knight from the Northern Middle English dialect which was directly descended from the lingual remnants left over from Cnut Sweynsson’s colonization at the end of the 10th, beginning of the 11th century.

Skyrim is probably one of my all time favourite games, it’s the only Elder Scrolls game I’ve played. I also really enjoy the Fallout series. I never played much of Fallout 3, but I played New Vegas, and Fallout 4 a lot. But most of that was done before I started practicing. But I still play Fallout 4. I’m not sure it’s sinful, (can’t think of any reason) so I keep playing it.

Well my biggest problem with the fallout games is the extremely disrespectful use of God’s name. I hardly didn’t hear it while playing. I haven’t seen it in fallout 4, but that’s cause I’ve hardly played it. But it does have it’s fair share of regular cursing, which Our Lord also condemns directly.

The Elder Scrolls is my favorite game series. Across Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, Elder Scrolls Online, Legends, and Blades I have an embarrassing number of hours poured into their world… (I’ve never tried anything pre-Daggerfall. I can only manage to play Daggerfall with Daggerfall Unity)

It’s a video game. It is fake. Unless you decide to start worshiping The Nine, or start trying to contact a Daedric Lord, you’re fine.
What do you think of ESO? I’m not terribly thrilled with it in terms of the quests and the like, but the gameplay is quite nice.
I was unfortunate enough to be involved in the closed Beta, and I absolutely hated it. There was no first person, the combat was floaty and awful. It felt nothing like an ES game. While it’s far from my favorite ES experience, since then they’ve drastically improved it, and now that it’s free it’s the only MMO I play. It’s great to pick up and play every now and then, and they’ve fleshed out the world with a ton of lore and sites. I always play Bretons, so it’s been awesome being able to explore their kingdom. It’s also fun to check out areas I’ve played in other games and see what they looked like in the past.
I know harry potter is really bad, J.K. Rowling even used actual spells from occult books to write it.
No, she didn’t. She used basic Latin to give spells literalistic names. There is nothing wrong with Harry Potter, but that’s a topic for another thread.

I just picked 76 up on sale. I have to say that, despite its flaws, I am enjoying it. It’s nothing great, but if you can pick it up for $10 I’d say go for it if you’re a fan of the series.

My wife always plays a Breton. Whenever they get around to wrapping up this series, I want them to bring back the Dwemer and make it playable.

I got about fifteen hours into Witcher 3 and just kinda stopped playing, shortly after you reach that first big city. I don’t know why, it was good, it just didn’t resonate with me like ES games…

That’s be pretty cool, maybe set a game in the early ages of Tamriel.
