In 1917 at the church approved apparitions of Fatima Portugal, the Blessed Virgin stated that if her requests for the consecrations of Russia were made, there would be peace. She told the three children:

The [First World] war is going to end; but if people do not cease offending God, a worse one will break out during the pontificate of Pius XI. When you see a night illumined by an unknown light, know that this is the great sign given you by God that He is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine, and persecutions of the Church and of the Holy Father. To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart… If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace. If not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, various nations will be annihilated. In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she will be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world."

She states that in the end her heart (and thus the heart of Jesus), would triumph, and an era of peace would be granted to the world. I would like to hear from other Catholics on this. My personal thought in light of everything that is happening at this moment with Ukraine and relations between the the western world and Russia is that the prophecy still has yet to be fulfilled, or fully realized. Thoughts?

From what I have read, St. John Paul consecrated Russia to her heart in about 1985, and sister Lucy confirmed that he did do it the way Mary wanted it done. And about 5 years later the walls of Russia came tumbling down just as in the case of Jerrico.

Of course this doesn’t mean that everything is perfect, but it is considerably better.

The threat now seems to be more from other world sources.

May the God of hope fill you with every joy.

Well, the consecration was made. Things are improving in Russia, but much progress could still be made. I don’t see much peace at the moment. Surely there must be more to come, I hope. The Cold War did end, but we all know that things don’t look so hot right now in the former USSR.

Russia has been consecrated to the Immaculate Heart from Pius XII onward; with JPII consecrating the “world” and addressing God saying he knows God awaits the entrustment of “certain people” and so forth. Point is, Russia has been consecrated before, with none matching the formula given in FATIMA IN LUCIA’S OWN WORDS: solemn, public, consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart, simultaneously as led by Peter and all bishops in their respective cathedrals, for the conversion of that nation and as the “only” means to a period of peace.

So waddya think? Let Putin pour tanks into Ukraine or have a solemn simultaneous Mass at each cathedral? Nah…Let’s support the Military Industrial Complex and try to outfox the Russians our own way that has been sooooo successful…not!😦

The consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart was accomplished on March 25 1984.On that very day an apparition of Mary appeared to over 100 people in Venezuela.

I believe the words were true and we are in the short days of peace already, though some would claim it will not happen until the centennial of the Fatima apparitions. The Blessed Virgins words were that when Russia is consecrated a period of peace would follow. There can be no complete peace though because as the bible says the wheat and tares(evil) will grow together until the end

One interesting thing about Russia is that the government sees sodomy for the sin it is while the USA government continues to embrace it in the guise of constitutional freedom.

Russia is a much better country than what the Soviet Union was.

The fact that Russia and the West can bicker about Ukraine without the threats of nuclear war are also an improvement.

ISIS is a bigger problem especially if they go after Israel, it will mean they have some dangerous weapons.

Looking at the situation objectivly, JPII was shot and the bullet nearly missed his heart on the very feast day of Our Lady of Fatima. You had the collaps of the Berline wall. You had the end of the Iron Curtain and the cold war, and now you have a country that decides to invade Georgia, take gas piplines, invade Ukrain, kill innocent people, take over a city, cause provocation, and then use that provocation as a means to invade further as the news is now reporting that tanks and armored personal are coming back into Eastern Ukraine. This provocation seems to be going beyond Ukrain as well:

There has definatly been a lot of debate over the consecration of Fatima, and its form. I learn toward it being valid…But does consecration necessitate conversion? In 1931, Sister Lucia was in her convent when she related to having a documented vision of Jesus. He told her in this vision:

“They did not wish to heed My request! … Like the King of France they will repent of it, and they will do it, but it will be too late. Russia will have already spread its errors in the world, provoking wars and persecutions against the Church. The Holy Father will have much to suffer.”

According to this statement it seems that the subject on Russia is less about consecration and more about conversion. With everything that is happening right now it looks as though the nation is not converted. If a news search for Putin or Russia is made, you dont really see anything positive these days. To me it seems a clear indication that the war and persecution is still yet to come, and the promised Era of Peace is still yet to come.

But I guess that is the big question: Does consecration entail immediate converstion? I think we have associated it as such because of what was said at Fatima: Russia will convert, the world will enjoy a period of peace. Taken outside of the later 1931 revelation to Sister lucia one could assume instant conversion. The revlation, on the contrary, seems to indicate consecation and conversion will not come at the same time.

There is nothing in the bible or the catechism that says there is to be an ERA of peace .There is nothing in the Blessed Virgins words as to what the conversion of Russia entails only that the entrustment would be done too late and the errors will have already spread. She said a period of peace would be granted and we have had relative peace since the fall of communism.

St John Paul 2 performed the required act on March 25 1984 and according to a letter from sister Lucia it was adequate. The fall of communism occurred 7 years later.I think the conversion Mary meant was from atheistic communism not that the whole of Russia would become Catholic.

She never directly states it, but sequentially it certainly sounds like it: “In the end My Immaculate Heart will triumph. The holy father will consecrate Russia, and an Era of peace will be granted to the world” The era of peace is mentioned after the referance to the consecration occuring.

Though it cannot be said for certain, I would suggest that support for an era of peace runs throughout scripture. Its like the Trinity. There is impliciate referance throughout even though the word Trinity is never used.

Saying that, I think its safe to state that there has been some progress with Russia in terms of its faith since the collaps. With everything that happened since the collaps, it looks as though it was a valid consecration, but it was simply done too late to prevent the communist crisis that she reffered to in her 1917 prophecy…Which if there is a communist crisis, it means that the nation is not converted despite consecration. And that is one of my main points. If the Lord said as recorded by sister lucia and written to her bishop in 1929:

“They did not wish to heed My request! … Like the King of France they will repent of it, and they will do it, but it will be too late. Russia will have already spread its errors in the world, provoking wars and persecutions against the Church. The Holy Father will have much to suffer.”

then its entirely possible that everything that is occuring in the news right now is related to Fatima despite the good things that have occured as a result of the consecration in 1984. There may still be more to this despite a valid consecration or not depending on ones position there.

God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. The [First World] war is going to end; if people do not cease offending God, a worse one will break out during the pontificate of Pius XI. There is nothing here claiming an ERA of peace, but that there would be some period of relative peace. To me ERA implies a long time when there is nothing biblical about it.

The end times will be around the middle east.
I think Russia, China, the Middle East and more will be involved. The subject line of this post is more in referance to prophecy then the actual end of the world. If an era of peace is to come, then it will be the end of this era and the beginning of a new era. That was my fault and a miscommunication there. I was more referring to prophecy in general, while mentioning Fatima and its prophecies related to Russia.

Though I would suggest that a lot of this comes from point of view. Here in the states we have had to contend with terrorism. If there is one thing that we can most readily associate with an apocoliptic event, its 911 and the middle east. From a European perspective in countries where gas and power is shut off for long periods due to countries like Russia… in their minds the end times will likely be around Russia. Realisitically though, the end of these times before the Era of Peace primised at Fatima, could be a combination of many things occuring at once. The middle east is highly unstable and its plausable that it would be involved in some way whether directly or indirectly.

Pax,there was no era of peace promised by Mary. She said after Russia was consecrated a period of peace would be granted. We are in most likely the last days of that peace. To enter into the fable that many are awaiting would mean a TOTAL shift in world view and that is unbiblical because the bible says good and evil will grow til the end until Jesus returns and the passing of this world into the eschatological judgement.

If by Era you might be referancing the end of sin and death, then I would agree that this is bibicically impossible. But passages like Isaiah 4:2, speak of a period of peace when the divine presence, the cloud of smoke and pillar of fire seen in the days of the Exodus, would be seen again over Mount Zion. This was written well after the dedication of the temple in Jerusalem when the glory cloud filled the temple. No time since that date in recorded history has it been seen. Then there are passages like 2 Maccebees 2 where the prophet Jeremiah seals the Ark of the Covenant, and directly states: This place will not be known again “Until God gathers his people together again and shows them his mercy” This referance to gathering and mercy is seen throughout the old testament; a time when there is one shepard and one fold. It’s is also supported in tradition. As Pope Pius XI once declared in Ubi Arcani dei Consilioi in the 1920s:

“And they shall hear My voice, and there shall be one fold and one shepherd.” May God… shortly bring to fulfillment His prophecy for transforming this consoling vision of the future into a present reality… It is God’s task to bring about this happy hour and to make it known to all… When it does arrive, it will turn out to be a solemn hour, one big with consequences not only for the restoration of the Kingdom of Christ, but for the pacification of… the world. We pray most fervently, and ask others likewise to pray for this much-desired pacification of society. —Pope Pius XI, Ubi Arcani dei Consilioi “On the Peace of Christ in his Kingdom”, December 23, 1922

St. Louis de Montfort in his Tretise on True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin, speaks of it, as well as St. John Vienny, St. Theresa of Avila, Blessed Anna Marie Taiga, and many others…an actual period in history itself where sin and death remain, but the gospel of Jesus Christ spreads throughout the world.

There are even some referances in the new testament, a prime example could be Revelation 20 and the 1000 year reign of peace…which may or may not be an actual 1000 years, but those who want to read the passage as connected to an era of peace and in an escatological sense as well, have the freedom to do so. St. Austine is clear that those who beleive it as such, can.

However he also warns very clearly that there will never come a time in history where sin and death are absent. But with all these saints referanced as well as many others there is actual support for a real era or significant period of time for history where men put down weapons of war and there is peace. When asked if this peace promised at Fatima had arrived, Pope John Paul II once responded to someone that we could not call this an era of peace with all the wars and turmiol that continues. This was well after his assassination attempt and recovery was made.

We are in the time of peace. The gospel has been preached nearly everywhere. When antichrist is revealed many will think he is Jesus and has come to bring peace and a 1000 year reign.Always remember what Jesus said: First the lawless one it to be revealed and he will arrive with such lying signs and wonders as to deceive most.
Jesus told St Faustina that before his final coming all lights in the heavens will be extinguished and the sign of the cross will appear in the sky.
I am not holding my breath for any amazing transformation of this world until Jesus returns.

I respectfully disagree. If we are to acknowledge that we are in a time of peace, then we are acknowleding that Pope John Paul II did not think we were presently living in that time. In addition we would be disregarding many who have been canonized blessed, venerable or even saints who have prophecied or at least stated that there is nothing against catholic doctrine supporting an actual era of peace. Combine that with Our Lady of Fatimas words on an era of peace which sequentually at least appears to have been placed after Russia’s conversion…which by the looks of the news seems evident more by the month that she is not yet converted, everything points to the contrary to this being the time of peace. A good book that might help is called Theology of History according to St. Boneventure, written by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger.

But rergarding actually being in an era of peace…with everything from Islamic attacks, to abortion, to attacks on marriage, to a return to cold war mentality in Russian leadership right now, I would suggest that a time is coming where we will experience a peace we do not know right now while remaining in a world where sin and death remain until the second coming of God. Supposing that this era of peace does come soon, it would be important for all humanity to keep that in mind: We can never have full peace here like we will in heaven, not now, not until the end of salvation history.

this supposed era of peace was also predicted by new age channelers in the 1930s.Read what they say:

aitreya wishes to hasten all. Maitreya wishes that all should be successfully accomplished. Maitreya wishes you joy. Maitreya wishes to grant to humanity a gift through the fiery experience of AGNIYOGA. Maitreya wishes to transform life on Earth in the radiance of the Mother of the World. Yes, yes, yes! The beauty of life is limitless! Hierarchy (1931) - 8.

Each Lord has his keynote. The Epoch of Maitreya proclaims woman. The manifestation of Maitreya is linked with the confirmation of the Mother of the World, in the past, present, and future. The “Book of Life” is so beautiful. Hierarchy (1931) - 13.

This supposed era of peace was also predicted in Theosophy a religious deception that denies Jesus divinity just as many are now.In theosophy Jesus and Mary are simply ascended master beings. This same concept is occurring in the offshoot cult from Medjugorje lead by Thomislav vlasic and Stefania Caterina both who claim they are channeling spirit entities.

If the church allows and encourages us to believe Fatima as authentic, then it is encouraging us to believe in Our Lady’s words that there will be an era of peace as she stated in this approved apparition despite what any other apparition whether approved, religious deception, condemed, or still under investigation states. At Fatima She was recorded as having stated that in the end, her immaculate heart, and thus the sacred heart of Her Son would triumph and the world as she states, will enjoy a period of peace. Those were words approved by Rome as having come from the Mother of God. I would suggest that we are not only to see them as authentic, but enocuraged to believe them even though our faith does not oblige us to believe in any apparition. But I cant see why not if so many miracles and wonders surround Fatima.
