The End Times!

I’ve been wondering about this for a little while now. There’s no question that we are living in the end times. My remaining questions is how “urgent” is this? I mean, in the Diary of Saint Faustina for instance, Our Lord seems to be telling that us that there is not much time left.

I just wanted to know what others think of this.

Oh, how much I am hurt by a soul’s distrust! Such a soul professes that I am Holy and Just, but does not believe that I am Mercy and does not trust in My Goodness. Even the devils glorify My Justice but do not believe in My Goodness. My Heart rejoices in this title of Mercy.

Before the Day of Justice I am sending the Day of Mercy.

People have been saying that we’re in the end times since the first century. Take Jesus’ word for it that we won’t know the hour or the day. Your end time could come at any minute from a heart attack, traffic accident, etc. Live each day as if it were your last and you’ll be prepared no matter when or how it comes, whether it’s your personal end time or the end time for all of us.

We have been in the end times since the death and resurrection of Jesus. Matthew Chapter 24:

36 But of that day and hour no one knoweth, not the angels of heaven, but the Father alone.

What strikes me at this time of year when in the Gospel daily Jesus speaks quite often of the ‘end times’, is that the Jews had lost sight of the messiah as a suffering messiah and replaced this with a vision they found more acceptable and turned it into a political messiah, and today the Return of Jesus in Glory is given all sorts of interpretations to make it more acceptable to our ‘logic’ and world view. concept of “kingdom” etc. etc. Rather Jesus will return in Glory and will shine as the sun with the angels and saints surrounding Him and this will be the day He returns as Judge and King.
What was revealed to St. Faustina is a private revelation the essence of which is that Jesus will indeed return and as Judge and King and until then it is the time of His Mercy: “Day of Mercy” … “to God one day is as a thousand years”.

As Catholics we anticipate joyfully the return of Jesus in Glory as Judge and King - exactly when we do not know and hence are ever anticipating it as at any moment in this our time of Mercy. We are ever prepared and preparing. In The Mass we pray “as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of Our Saviour, Our Lord Jesus Christ”.

Very true.

No one knows when Jesus will return for the second time.

But each of us will probably encounter our own personal end time before that universal end time. Chances are each of our individual life will end before then.

Therefore, instead of wondering when is “the” end time, we ought to prepare ourselves everyday for the unavoidable and unknown end time of our own life.

I think it is perfectly OK to totally ignore all the blather about “end times” :yawn:

I myself just try to live the Christian life NOW. “One day At A Time”, as we say in AA. Daily prayer, daily penance, daily love and service to others according to our means. With the Help of Mother Mary, to live as virtuous a life as I can TODAY.

Good point and very true…in preparing for one, we prepare for the other and both in “joyful hope”. The one reality in life ever present is an ‘ending’ - for me the difficult part of my own personal death is for those that I will leave behind and the hope they will not grieve overly, rather celebrate and be happy for me - and for that I pray in connection with my own passing. In recent Gospels Jesus has been speaking about “end” in some form either personal or His Return…Barb

I don’t think that the entry from Saint Faustina’s diary has anything to do with the end times.

This is a very important general statement concerning how God interacts with us. God’s mercy is first, then His justice. This applies to each of us now and applies to all that have come before us. God’s mercy and justice come to each of us. If I die today I will have received both God’s mercy and justice and will realize how both play out at my particular judgment. This will happen regardless of when the world ends.

it is urgent in all times and places for all people, as Jesus warns in the gospels, particularly those in the last weeks of ordinary time and in Advent. We are to live always as if we are in the last days of our own earthly life, or in the last days of the planet itself. That is the only approach to spiritual life that is realistic. This night your life may demanded of you. So fill your lamps with oil, be always ready in your clean wedding garment to greet the Bridegroom, but beware of anyone who pretends to know and tell you the day and the hour.
