Canon 910.2, which itself makes reference to canon 230, which provides the specific details.where does it state that in the code of canon law though?

Stephen,Well, first of all, if he has not bowed in front of the tabernacle because our Lords presence is not there, then I could see the reason for it, perhaps he bowed out of habit who knows, but its not necessarily that that I have a problem with, its the fact that Our Lord was taken from the tabernacle before the celebration of mass and placed the oratory room for adoration after mass.
thus it breaks canon 941s2 ‘‘Exposition of the blessed sacrament may not take place while Mass is being celebrated in the same area of the church or oratory.’’
God bless
Stephen.
Fr.David I respect your subjective anaylsis wholeheartedly, but since when did the word ‘‘exposition’’ become the word ‘‘adoration’’?Stephen,
Actually, canon 941 is saying that Mass and Eucharistic Adoration cannot take place at the same time in the same place. That’s why the Adoration part takes place in a seperate chapel–to conform to the canon.
Just an aside, “oratory room” isn’t the same thing as “oratory” used in canon law. The word “church” (in reference to the building) usually refers to a “parish church” while “oratory” refers to a place of worship for a religious community (usually)–although in everyday language, we would might call that a “church.” Elsewhere, there are important reasons for distinguishing between “church” and “oratory” and “chapel” but for the puposes we’re discussing in this thread, only the word “church” would actually apply. Here, the Blessed Sacrament is being taken to a seperate chapel within the church, but still a place distinct from the “room” where Mass is being celebrated.
Yes, remember that there is no such person as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion *unless and until the priest makes that appointment. No priest, no EMHC. No appointment, no EMHC. Someone might have been an EMHC in the past, might have been one on many occasions, might have done so for decades, might be a potential EMHC but until the appointment happens for this particular moment, the “office” doesn’t exist, it only potentially might exist.§3. When the need of the Church warrants it and ministers are lacking, lay persons, even if they are not lectors or acolytes, can also supply certain of their duties, namely, to exercise the ministry of the word, to preside offer liturgical prayers, to confer baptism, and to distribute Holy Communion, according to the prescripts of the law.
In regards to your other post, are you saying that, even though a Eucharistic Minister is there, that should a priest or deacon be in the same room, that they should be the ones who Take the host from the tabernacle?![]()
First, I did use the wrong word.Fr.David I respect your subjective anaylsis wholeheartedly, but since when did the word ‘‘exposition’’ become the word ‘‘adoration’’?
it is saying ‘‘exposition’’ of the blessed sacrament not ‘‘adoration’’
I feel the two are completely opposite to one another dont you think so?
From the way you describe this room, I would say that exposition of the Blessed Sacrament should not occur in this room during Mass since it is not completle seperate from the church but is visible. Do they cover the monstrance during Mass as I have seen this done?well the room The Blessed Sacrament was taken to is still within the church, does this apply?
for example the room is used both as ( what we call in Ireland ) a crying room for women to take their children, its made of glass but its sound proof. It is also used as a place for adoration.
Thank you for clearing things up though.
God bless
Stephen.
The curtains are closed over the glass, and there is a cover for the monstrance Yes, as for whether it is covered during mass I have no idea. but the room is not a seperate building from the church no.From the way you describe this room, I would say that exposition of the Blessed Sacrament should not occur in this room during Mass since it is not completle seperate from the church but is visible. Does it sound like we may officially now close this thread? If the monstrance is covered during Mass then, yes, that is acceptable, as long as it is not on the same altar.
