What is the relevance of the Exile in Sacred Scripture? What is its relevance for Jews and what is it for us?

One answer: it is a prefigurement of falling away from God because of sin and returning “home” to Him by reorienting our lives in faith. 😃

The exile is “not being home”.

Our HOME is with God.

We do our work in exile, here, and after it we will go home.

What more do you need to know?

The various times the Israelites spent away from the Promised Land could be considered “exile” and would included the time of their slavery in Egypt, their forty years of wandering in the wilderness, their Babylonian captivity, and their dispersion after the fall of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. to the present day or, at least, to the establishment of the modern state of Israel after World War II.

Heaven is a Christian’s Promised Land. Any time we spead away from heaven could be considered “our exile.”
