The following excerpt from today’s headlines exposes the public face of Islam that Westerners see.

I welcome any comments and attempts to explain this phenomenon.

NEW DELHI – Two Muslim mothers in a northern Indian town have been arrested on accusations they killed their daughters for dishonoring the family by eloping with Hindu men, police said Sunday.

Newlyweds Zahida, 19, and Husna, 26, were strangled when they returned home after getting married to men of their choice, said Anil Kumar Kusan, a police officer.

“We killed them because they brought shame to our community. How could they elope with Hindus? They deserved to die. We have no remorse,” Khatun, one of the mothers, was quoted as saying by the Indian Express newspaper after her arrest Friday. Khatun uses only one name.

Earlier this week, India’s Supreme Court recommended the death penalty for honor killings, calling the practice barbaric and feudal.

Its been seen unfortunately amongst Yazidi’s as well, in this case, because the girl converted to Islam.

Keep in mind RC that you cannot isolate these crimes to religion. The Musilm-Hindu hatred runs deep in India.

I’m a little confused. Are you saying that the Catholic faith has no stance on honor killing as well as Islam? That both all in all are equally against honor killings? If that is true, does that mean that Catholic and Islam honor killings are the same in both faiths? You can’t separate faith out of the honor killing ideas since honor killings are done in the name of that religion.
I never heard of Catholics teaching honor killings,where does that come from?
 
i wonder how through history how many women with i.q.'s of 180 plus that could have cured cancer have been stoned to death just because they were diferent … ones lower should ;not suffer that stupidity either… but how slowly humanity learns , eh ??? guess it all boils down to bigotry of one form or another

Wow this makes it so clear on why I always thought Muslims were killing for the sake of God but in reality they have so much respect for the human race like Christians/Catholics do but the truth is these killings or human killings are in fact used in honor of their family name. Whomever is a Muslim that has a female in there family who sees their family member going out their way to ruin their name they discontinue their life.

Now that is extreme but that’s not the true Muslim way considering Muslims also live on the two commandments tha Jesus left the world after His ascension!

You may be confusing RC for Roman Catholicism. I am not talking about Roman Catholicism at all. I was addressing the opening poster by initials.
