Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

Eternal rest grant unto them, Oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. x2
And I especially pray for all those who have no one praying for them.

Eternal Father, I pray for the souls of all the departed, especially for those I miss most, my JaJa, my Boo-Boo (great grandfather and grandmother, respectively), both my PopPops, and for Granny.

I pray also for all those who, during this blessed season, miss those they have lost. May they have Your comfort and share in the joy of Christ’s birth. Amen.

Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for the soul of Nicholas, friend of my family, who died in a tragic accident a few years ago .:crossrc:

For my dear Mother, Estelle Rivers, who passed away Jan 19,2011, 2 weeks past her 90th birthday. She was a wonderful Christian mother, and the best role model a daughter could ever have. It will be difficult this Christmas, she loved this time of year. God rest her soul. It was her passing that brought me to the Catholic Church. I’ll always love and honor you, Mom.:signofcross:

For my dear mother Lizzie who passed away on Christmas Eve 17 years ago, still missed.
For Lou who passed away in June 2011 (very sorely missed) & for Mary. Also for John who died in Nov 2011 & for everyone who has departed of every & no religion.

Eternal rest grant unto them, Oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. Also, grant us the courage to continue without them

May God receive Nicholas in the peace and Glory of His Kingdom, and may Nicholas pray for us all.

In Jesus’ Name.

Amen.:highprayer::heaven::harp::amen::blessyou:

For my Mother who passed on, on Christmas Eve a few years back. She is dearly missed but we know she is in heaven. She would give anyone anything they needed when they needed it if she had it to give. And my Father who died of Cancer a couple years ago. Bless his soul.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Shirley Ramos -a dear friend and a regular parishioner and communicant at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, who passed away December 8, 2011.
We were unable to attend her funeral -at a Baptist Church. Mutual friends of ours went, and were saddened (Shirley’s daughter is Baptist and appears to have ignored Shirley’s wishes in death). We are heart-broken.
I have had a Mass said for her, and believe others have done so also. So please add to your prayer lists the repose of the soul of Shirley Ramos. Thank you.
Eternal rest grant unto her, oh Lord. And let perpetual Light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.

It is 1:30 AM. We received a call just after 1:00 AM informing us my grandmother has passed away a few minutes ago. So I’m asking, please pray for the soul of Mary Bettencourt.

We had planned on spending Thanksgiving with my sister, and her family, down Paso Robles (San Louis Obispo). But we got a call from my uncle, my mother’s brother, that my grandmother had taken a turn for the worse and had been moved from the assisted care facility to the hospital. Her kidneys had started shutting down. So we headed up to Chico Wednesday night. We stayed with her a good part of the day Thursday, she was stable. We were invited to join one of my cousin’s family, there in Chico, for Thanksgiving, going back to the hospital afterward. I led the rosary, with my parents answering the prayers. My grandmother tried to answer along, but became clearly frustrated when she couldn’t -her speech had all but left her, we can only make out a few mumbled words. I nodded to her that it was alright and she seemed to have calmed down. Since the passing of my grandfather a dozen years ago, she used to say her rosary several times a day, and now had not been able to say it for some time. I know this in itself has been a trial for her.

We returned home Friday evening -my mother is having a particularly difficult time of it. My siblings have also been up. On Saturday, while another of my sisters was up there, my grandmother was moved back to the assisted care facility where she was placed in a private room. They had her on I.V. -nothing by mouth. Breathing had become much more difficult for her, and slowly her other organs started shutting down. My uncle had already started making funeral arrangements.

My grandmother was 99 years old. Her birthday is December 24, and we had been planning a party for her 100th, but she never expressed any interest or even desire to celebrate that milestone. I can tell you She had a very hard life. Much of it did not come to light until after my grandfather had passed. We found out, mostly through others, he had been a hard, cruel man, and a womanizer. They had a dairy that they worked together well into their 70’s (there are no days off when you have a dairy). She worked hard. And she prayed hard. Prayed for him. Prayed for us.

My grandmother had always been a faithful daughter of the Church, and I’m -we all are- convinced she prayed my grandfather back into the Church. He went to confession, and started going back to the sacraments again. About seven years later he was diagnosed with cancer. In his final illness he wanted to die at home, and we made sure that could happen. He received the last rights, and before he died he called my grandmother to his side, apologized for everything he had put her through, and asked for her forgiveness. …That, only possible by the grace of God, and my grandmother’s constant prayers.

She had always had a strong devotion to Our Lady of Fatima, and to the Holy Spirit (these two devotions run strong in the Portuguese culture). So our prayer for her had been that Our Lady pray before the throne of her son, Our Lord, for my grandmother; that she be comforted in this final trial. And that the Holy Spirit come, and take her peacefully, home to heaven.

Eternal rest grant unto her, oh Lord. And let perpetual Light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
I had a Mass celebrated for my grandmother, on the one-month anniversary of her death, at St. Dominic’s (San Francisco, CA) on December 30. Several family and friends were there. (As an aside; Her funeral was held at St. Dominic’s in Orland, CA)
Eternal rest grant unto Mary Bettencourt, oh Lord. And let perpetual Light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
