O Lord, Who art ever merciful and bounteous with Thy gifts, look down upon the suffering souls in purgatory. Remember not their offenses and negligences, but be mindful of Thy loving mercy, which is from all eternity. Cleanse them of their sins and fulfill their ardent desires that they may be made worthy to behold Thee face to face in Thy glory. May they soon be united with Thee and hear those blessed words which will call them to their heavenly home: **“Come, blessed of My Father, take possession of the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” **

Glory be to The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit

A Prayer for the Forgotten Dead

O merciful God,
take pity on those souls
who have no particular friends and intercessors
to recommend them to Thee; and who,
either through the negligence of those who are alive,
or through length of time, are forgotten
by their friends and by all.

Spare them, O Lord,
and remember Thine own Mercy,
when others forget to appeal to it.
Let not the souls which Thou hast created
be parted from Thee, their Creator.

May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Amen.

O my Jesus,
forgive us our sins,
save us from the fires of hell,
lead all souls to Heaven,
especially those
most in need of Thy mercy.

Amen.

World without end

Please pray for my mother Emmeline age 92 who passed away on 5-7-13, and my Father Doc Richard who passed on 1-24-09,age 92. Emmeline a loving mom of 10, was raised in NC on a farm and became a nurse. She converted to Catholicism when she married Dad and raised 10 kids almost effortlessly. Dad was a WWII Vet doc medic who was on the beaches of Normandy France on DDay, There he carried the wounded to safety out of harms way and worked in triage, than later served in Japan helping those wounded there. He told us about the priests offering general absolution for the soldiers before they entered into battle. (please pray for them). Dad worked as a doctor many hours in a Catholic Hospital in Chicago for 35 years and the both of them had 50+ grandkids and greatgrandkids. They shared their Catholic faith with us so much by example, always loving and always forgiving… They are truly missed by all of us.

Here is a prayer my father used to say on the way to Catholic school when he was a boy.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.

For my late BIL Jimmy, who passed 3/22/13. From St. Faustina’s Diary, the eighth day intention of the Divine Mercy Novena:

Jesus said: “Today bring to Me THE SOULS WHO ARE DETAINED IN PURGATORY, and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. Let the torrents of My Blood cool down their scorching flames. All these souls are greatly loved by Me. They are making retribution to My justice. It is in your power to bring them relief. Draw all the indulgences from the treasury of My Church and offer them on their behalf. Oh, if you only knew the torments they suffer, you would continually offer for them the alms of the spirit and pay off their debt to My justice.”

Most Merciful Jesus, You Yourself have said that You desire mercy; so I bring into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls in Purgatory, souls who are very dear to You, and yet, who must make retribution to Your justice. May the streams of Blood and Water which gushed forth from Your Heart put out the flames of Purgatory, that there, too, the power of Your mercy may be celebrated.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls suffering in Purgatory, who are enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. I beg You, by the sorrowful Passion of Jesus Your Son, and by all the bitterness with which His most sacred Soul was flooded: Manifest Your mercy to the souls who are under Your just scrutiny. Look upon them in no other way but only through the Wounds of Jesus, Your dearly beloved Son; for we firmly believe that there is no limit to Your goodness and compassion. Amen.

This is something I feel compelled to share. My father passed away on 1/24/09. Last year on 1/24/12 we had averted a spontaneous dishwasher fire. For some reason we didn’t start the dishwasher that day even though it was full, and I came aware of it the next day and started it when we were in the kitchen eating dinner and the quickly starting fire began so my husband was there to it out. I recalled that we bought the dishwasher on 1/24 when I looked up the warrantee. I believe my dad and St. Mary prayers were protecting us that day, especially as my dad prayed the Memorare’ so often in his life.

Now I look at the post I wrote up above. October 7th is my birthday and so that is why 107 is in my name here. October 7th is also the feast Day of the Most Holy Rosary. And 107 is the number of posts that I made when I talked about my father and mothers passing up above. I really believe Mary and my dad intercede for us and this is just another sign to me from God.

I also pray for all the souls in purgatory that they realize Gods eternal peace.

Karen, thank you for sharing. Your parents sounded like wonderful people. A doctor on the beach at Normandy–surely, the Lord was with him that day! To raise 10 children and scores of grandchildren–amazing people. I have no doubt that the Holy Souls are watching out for us. And I do believe that they are reaching out to us and asking for prayers. That’s why I specifically prayed for my BIL yesterday. There have been a number of things which have happened which make me believe that he is near. And maybe if we pray for them, they will pray for us, too.
