I am truly sorry for your loss. May the Lord bless and keep you always. He is with the Lord and you will one day be reunited. Love, laurel

The loss of an infant is an especially heart-breaking experience. We had a somewhat similar experience - and our comfort is knowning we have our own little angel with God.

Many blessings to you and your loved ones today.

Tom

I’m so sorry for your loss. You are in my prayers, and I will pray for the repose of his soul.

I would like to as everyone pray for our soldiers who have been killed in all US wars and their families. Like the previous poster I would like to remember two MIA Marine Corps pilots Captain John W. Consolvo and First Lieutenant Everett A. McPherson who were both lost during the Vietnam War. I would also like to honor to Virginia National Guardsmen Sergeant Nicholas C. Mason and Sergeant David A. Ruhen who were Killed in Action in Mosul, Iraq on 21st December 2004. Both men were just 20 years old when they were killed. I pray that that these two young Christians who spent their short lives serving others are helping the Marines guard the streets of heaven. I hope I will always be able to follow the shining example they set for helping others in everything I do.

I would like to say a few words about a close friend of mine, Lew Brigham. Lew was an exceptional man. He always found the :good" of any event, even his cancer. He loved to laugh and joke. On July 14th, after a long struggle with cancer, the Lord called Lew home. I was privileged to know this man.

He was the type of man that right after you met him, you already felt better. The Holy Spirit lived in this man. I only knew Lew the last 4 years and he had cancer the whole time. He became a Knight of Columbus, which I am, and he was so happy. Then he wanted to become a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. Since his cancer was moving pretty fast, it did not look like he would become one.

I was able to get a special exemplification done for Lew in his own home, and he was so happy. That was three months ago. After that exemplification, his wife took him stright back to the hospice. He never let on how much pain he was in. He had good days and bad days the next three months. I loved this man because of his Spirit. He said that I did a lot for him. Personally, what I did for him fades in comparison to the change he had on me.

I have been blessed with friends, but friends like Lew are hard to find.We are having a Rosary service for Lew with the Honor Guard of the Knights of Columbus there.

Lew may be gone in person, but is never gone because I hold him in my heart. Now Lew is at the table with Jesus and is pain-free. That’s Heaven!

Hi, Dryheat,

It is a wonderful experience to enjoy the friendship that you bravely shared with us. Your friend has not only enriched you - but, through you, he has enriched each of us, too.

I’m a 3rd Degree Knight - and, a hospice nurse. I am trying to get several things accomplished with the Knights…so, 4th Degree is just a ways off. When it comes to hospice care, while keeping patients as near to being pain free is the goal - sometimes there are complications. I would like to say we are the best game in town when it comes to active pain management - but, this is not a perfect system.

Your friend is with God - and watching out for you and yours. My thinking is that because you have introduced us to him - he will be ‘putting in a kind word’ for us, too! 👍

Have a blessed day.
