My mom passed away 3 weeks ago on July 3. She had a stroke that Wednesday and died Friday. Her right side was paralyzed, and she couldn’t talk which was a dichotomy (she always had something to say, good or bad). She died peacefully with my brother and I in the room. I don’t think she suffered much.

I know it was hard in the beginning for her. I wish I could have gone to the hospital earlier the next day after the stroke, but I was working. I visited her in the afternoon, and I think she knew I was there as she was looking at me when I spoke, and she tried to tell me something. She also said “yes” a couple of times.

Anyway, her birthday is July 30, she would have been 80 years old. I dedicate her to the Lord and want to share her in the prayers of some of the other posters. Thank you.

I often wonder what she is doing up in heaven and hoping that she is at peace with the Lord, but I cannot know for sure what she is doing. I’m praying that I trust that the Lord has her in His care and she is doing fine.

First, to the previous poster:
  • My heart goes out to you! My mom passed last August, and I know how you and your family must be feeling.[My mom was also pretty much unable to communicate, the last time we saw her- she passed in her sleep.] My prayers are for all of you, and may God grant her a great reward!*

Now, I want to lift up my cousins and their children and grandchildren, as my Aunt Rose passed on July 8th.They are having a real tough time of it, as they were very close to her!
  • She was a GREAT example of a Catholic Christian, and loved EVERYONE so much! Rose had a way of cheering you up, and a great sense of humor-she was able to get you to see the lighter side of almost anything, and knew well that God is truly in control and we need only to trust in Him for all situations.*

God grant you great joy, Aunt Rose!!!

Thank you, brother Dan. What a nice memorial of your aunt! May God give you His peace. Amen.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of my father who passed away early Wednesday morning after suffering from lung cancer. Not only was a pillar in the community, but he was the Apostle Peter of our family with his complete trust in the Lord and unwavering Faith. It was the faithfulness in Christ from both he and my mother that we all remain Catholic. Not only did he adhere to the Faith, but he lived it through his kindness, generosity, compassion, and love.

I will miss my father very, very much, and I pray that God prepares a place for him at His Banquet.

God Bless you all.

Do Not Weep for Me.

Do not weep tears of sorrow for me,
shed tears of joy instead.
I’m going home to heaven
on the path where Jesus led.
His path was one of suffering,
of bitter hurt and pain,
But He went through it all for me
so that I would heaven gain.
I’m not afraid to follow Him.
I know Him, oh so well.
I know He loves me and wants me
in heaven with Him to dwell.
So don’t you sigh and mourn for me
and wish I could stay here.
My place is ready there, you see,
There’s nothing now to fear.

I’m going to my Saviour,
My Lord and dearest Friend.
And I’ll be waiting there for you
when your life on earth shall end.
And so I bless you all, my friends,
my loving family dear.
Let me go now and weep no more
for me - I can’t stay here.
My Lord, He’s there a-calling me
to my heavenly home,
where I shall see the angels
around His glorious throne.

written in memory of my friends, Winnie and Geoff.,
May they rest in peace.

Prayer for the Faithful Departed

(Venerable) John Henry Newman

O GOD of the Spirits of all flesh, O Jesu, Lover of souls, we recommend unto Thee the souls of all those Thy servants, who have departed with the sign of faith and sleep the sleep of peace. We beseech Thee, O Lord and Saviour, that, as in Thy mercy to them Thou becamest man, so now Thou wouldest hasten the time, and admit them to Thy presence above. Remember, O Lord, that they are Thy creatures, not made by strange gods, but by Thee, the only Living and True God; for there is no other God but Thou, and none that can equal Thy works. Let their souls rejoice in Thy light, and impute not to them their former iniquities, which they committed through the violence of passion, or the corrupt habits of their fallen nature. For, although they have sinned, yet they always firmly believed in the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost; and before they died, they reconciled themselves to Thee by true contrition and the Sacraments of Thy Church.

O Gracious Lord, we beseech Thee, remember not against them the sins of their youth and their ignorances; but according to Thy great mercy, be mindful of them in Thy heavenly glory. May the heavens be opened to them, and the Angels rejoice with them. May the Archangel St Michael conduct them to Thee. May Thy holy Angels come forth to meet them, and carry them to the city of the heavenly Jerusalem. May St Peter, to whom Thou gavest the keys of the kingdom of heaven, receive them. May St Paul, the vessel of election, stand by them. May St John, the beloved disciple, who had the revelation of the secrets of heaven, intercede for them. May all the Holy Apostles, who received from Thee the power of binding and loosing, pray for them. May all the Saints and elect of God, who in this world suffered torments for Thy Name, befriend them; that, being freed from the prison beneath, they may be admitted into the glories of that kingdom, where with the Father and the Holy Ghost Thou livest and reignest one God, world without end.

Come to their assistance, all ye Saints of God; gain for them deliverance from their place of punishment; meet them, all ye Angels; receive these holy souls, and present them before the Lord. Eternal rest give to them, O Lord. And may perpetual light shine on them.

May they rest in peace. Amen.

May He support us all the day long, till the shadows lengthen
and the evening comes
and the busy world is hushed
and the fever of life is over
and our work is done-
then in His mercy-
may He give us safe lodging
and a holy rest
and peace at the last.

Amen

Please pray for the souls of the Ellul and Borg’s families. We in Malta have great devotion to the souls in purgatory. May God give them eternal rest.

In Remembrance of my Father who taught me the value of hard work and family…especially forgiveness.

What a great man he must have been in life.
Great poem of tribute!
We all owe him and all his comrades a great debt…

I have the utmost respect for all who have suffered through
the tragedies of war for our sakes and those of our children…God Bless And Rest Em’ All!

My Aunt Emma passed away on July 25, 2009. She was a deeply spiritual woman who prayed for those she loved and those she didn’t even know. She told me that sometimes, when she awakened in the night, she would pray for travelers all over the world, whether on land, at sea, or in the air. Subsequently, whenever I fly, I always invoke “Aunt Emma’s Angels” to guide the airplane to safety. Now, I know that she will be watching over all of us from Heaven. Since she always told us, as we left her presence, “Go with God,” I say to her now, “You are now with God, Aunt Emma.”

It’s a sad day for the Philippines today. Former President Corazon Aquino died this morning. Archbishop Cruz of Pangansinan, Philippines went so far as to say that he won’t be merely praying for her, but to her. Cory was a pious Catholic. She’s always seen praying the Rosary. When she died this morning, her family was on the fifth Sorrowful Mystery, praying at her bedside. Cory was very close to our Blessed Mother, and it’s timely she died on the First Saturday. Thread about her death here: forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=362530

I pray for those I know who have died, including 22 people I personally knew. When I hear of someones death, I always add this person to my list. And the most desolate souls in purgatory.
My parents are dead. My dad died 2 yrs ago at age 88. He appeared to me briefly in his death and, even though I have heard these stories, it freaked me out. I told him to call out for Jesus and follow the light. He was very confussed. In this life he had alzheimers. I do not know if that has any connection, but I find it interesting.
I have died once and I have been at deaths door so many times I no longer can count because of many illnesses.
I think it is one of the most forgot, yet so important work of Mercy to pray for the dead.
I have a wonderful Protestant nurse’s aide that takes care me daily. Her best friend this past weekend was in a car crash and died and the grandmother died too and the 9 yr old little girl in their car is in the hospital, doing well, yet got a large hole in her head.
It is hard to withhold saying to my worker, I will pray for them(the friend and grandma).Because being Protestant, non denominational, she does not believe in praying for the dead. She said to me, her Pastor told her to just remember they are in Heaven.
I see more and more in our Church the same response, and even though I hope and pray all who I know died and others who died are in Heaven, and I can not know, we know as Catholics the importance of praying for the dead. What a blessing.
And by passing this on to our children we can be sure they will pray for us,at least sometimes for minimum.

Dear Heavenly Father, have Mercy on all who have and will die and bring them to Heaven. Please bring salvation to everyone on CAF. Amen

For all these people listed above …

Hail Mary,
full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

*😊 I am just noticing this section tonight? How great it is for us to be able to place our prayer intentions here for the faithfully departed.

I pray everyday for the following:

my mother and father, my husband’s dad, CAF members’ loved ones who have died, past popes and martyrs of the faith, saints, uncles, aunts, and friends–I typically name them by name.

Father, please watch over those we pray for today and everyday…and may they have gone to rest in hopes of rising again. I pray for all who are in purgatory, that You will cleanse them of their sins, and bring them to everlasting life very soon.

In Jesus’ name, we pray–Amen. ❤️*

I am doing much better with my mom having passed away, but it still does make me sad at times. Here’s a brief bio for her:

Birth name: Lucía Zoraida Ferrer Padilla
Known as: Iraida Ferrer de López
Born in Cabo Rojo, PR in 1926
Passed away in Orlando, FL in 2006
Married for 55 years to my dad who is currently living and doing well, thanks to God in Jesus’ name.
They dated for 3 years prior to being married, so they knew each other for 58years.
I learned my Catholic faith mainly through her and owe my disposition to prayer to the Grace God gave me through her.

May God allow her to rest in His Arms, and may she and I be reunited again some day if it be His will!

I dedicate this post to my father, for even though he may not have been there for others, he was always there for me. Even though he committed suicide, may he be forgiven and taken into God’s open arms in heaven.

Edward Michael Tiffany
