The fall of satan

the fall of satan is said to have occured because satan wanted to be like god. but what are the details? does the catholic church go into details? or do they greet every question on the fall of satan with the one or two verses from isaiah where the “son of the morning star” was fallen from the heavens.

books that were once considered sacred scripture prior to the formation of the bible as we have it today went into detail on the fall of satan.

i have read that when God fashioned man out of the dust he commanded all of creation to bow down before adam. adam was made in the image of god. and lucifer, who was first among the angels said “no i will not bow down before him. i came before him, it should be him bowing down to me”

and THAT was what got him booted out. but the “scripture” i read that from isnt in the bible. though it was scripture PRIOR to the bible. does the fact that its not contained in the bible mean that there is no truth contained within it? or how does that work?

Non Scriptural DOES NOT mean Non True. It simply means Non Inspired by God. There are numerous early Church writings that we use to trace Sacred Tradition but were rejected as Scriptural - The Didache, the Epistles of Ignatius, and the Epistle of Clement to Corinth were all written within a century of Jesus’ death, but are not considered Scriptural.

The story you tell of Adam, I THINK, was actually about Jesus and I think it was told by St. Ireneaus (late 2nd century). Lucifer and his cohort wouldn’t bow down and worship the infant Jesus, and hence were kicked out.

islam says satan wouldnt bow down to adam because he said he was better than adam.

the life of adam and eve said what i told you up above.

and when you say “not inspired by god” isnt that synonymous with not entirely true? how could they derive sacred tradition from a text and with the same hand proclaim said text was not inspired?

No, “not inspired by God” is not synoymous with “not entirely true”. Take a dictionary or encyclopedia. Are they inspired? Are they true?

St. Irenaeus lived and wrote a few hundred years before Mohammed was even born.

If God had wanted us to have more details about Satan’s fall,

1. He would have revealed it through the prophets that He knew would have their writings included in Sacred Scripture
2. Jesus would have spoken more about it in His preaching
3. God would have guided His Church in establishing more definitive teachings. He may still do this in the future - but only when and if He desires it. So till then, we’ll just have to wait on God.
