I looked around and saw that no one mentioned what day it was. It is a very special day, the Feast day of St Mark the Evangelist! You know the man who has a book named after him…a Gospel book…at least read the Gospel reading for today…
Mark 16: 15 - 20 15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.” 19 So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that attended it. Amen.

Also check out a quick bio on him here (newadvent)

Here is something I never knew that I saw on newadvent:
Many indeed are of opinion that the young man who fled naked from Gethsemane (Mark, xiv, 51) was Mark himself.
This is news to me, if its true that is only more praise to his work.

So what do you have to say.
God Bless St Mark.

I knew it was the feast day because I went to Mass yesterday. I regret to say, however, that I was so worn out from work that I didn’t get around to reading the entire Gospel of Mark yesterday – or even part of it, as I had intended. 😦

Your fine, you did your best, It was a Monday and I think everyone was focused on the new week. The Mass had the Gospel Reading from Mark, so you did get the best part.

We had a nice homily on St Mark yesterday as well regarding his Gospel. St Mark - which my priest said was the oldest of the Gospels ( first written in about 45.)

Interesting.

In his homily, our priest said that the part used in the Mass wasn’t even written by Mark.
