I’m calling it now

The first American pope will be from the diocese of Lincoln

Not necessarily.

Just, when there’s an American Pope, he’ll be from Lincoln, IMO

First we would need a bishop there to be named a Cardinal. That’s definitely not happening during this papacy, but maybe sometime in the future.

Or a priest from Lincoln to be ordained a Bishop for another diocese and then made a Cardinal

If you mean priests ordained in Lincoln, that is perhaps more likely. I still think a good ways in the future, but possible.

I thought already have a American pope in Pius XIII ? 😉
You’re referencing The Young Pope, right? That would be really interesting if the next Pope was from America and took the name Pius.

A strong, orthodox diocese producing wayyy more priests per capita than nearly anywhere else in the us

Interesting, but not sure that is what makes a good enough reason.

More priests means most likely more bishops and then more cardinals and hopefully a Pope imo

Hmmm…🤔
Still don’t think it would work that way. No pope would be picked because they hit a high score in priests. It is based on the individual.

I didnt mean to say otherwise.

But just looking at it from a law of averages point of view, it makes sense to me

Lincoln is a Diocese. The Archdiocese is in Omaha. Beyond that, I don’t agree with you; that brand of conservatism doesn’t seem to play well throughout the U.S. much less the rest of the world.

there has had already been expressed a lot of bias in the college of cardinals against ever appointing a Pope from the USA

it will take centuries to overcome this

just like we had only italian popes for 1,500 years 😦
