we must keep in mind the understanding of all things. humans beings are not perfect. the Church is made of humans beings. some will fall, some will say things that are not true, some will make big mistakes, they will repent, they will fall again. this is our human nature. there are Saints and there are no so Saints ones. but we have the confidence that despite all this our Lord has promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against His Church. this is what wemust look to it. it is based on this promise that we must remain faithfull to the Church therefore faithfull to Christ Himself. the Hebrew people wasnt always obedient and perfect, they had their fallen, but God keeps His promise, He will not leave us ever, no matter what people do. He will deal with those unfaithfull ones. but we are not condemn or judge them based on humans ways.
a friend of mine non Catholic told me once: you know, Rome is surrounded by demons. i know what she wanted to say. so i said, true, who do you thing the devil is going after the most? Christ’s Church.
Jesus went through difficult times, even being abandoned by all, yet He is our Lord. the Church my not look like what we think she should be. but she is the One Christ found. that is the beauty of this Church. Christ found her. that is the joy of being Catholic.
a quote from,
**St Augustine
"none of them; none of them is truly Catholic and being Catholic is the chief family trait by which I’m identified. “the Church of the Christian religion is called Catholic, not only by her own members but even by our enemies; for when heretics or the adherents of schisms talk about her, not among themselves but with strangers, they willy-nilly call her nothing else but Catholic for they will not be understood unless they distinguish her by this name which the whole world employs in her regard.” **
