If Adam was the first human, then where did the devil come from?
 
But Angels were people who died. So therefore he was a human or even the first human because he was before Adam.
 
No, angels are not ‘people who died’. Angels are purely spirit. People (humans) are body AND spirit.

No, angels are completely different beings than man. The angels were all created before any man was created.
 
This is why we need to teach the Catechism. Luckily for me, earlier in my life, it was still taught.

Angels, for the avoidance of doubt, are not and never have been, mortals.

Suggest we learn this prayer and pray it daily:

“Holy Michael the archangel,
defend us in the day of battle,
be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him,we humbly pray:
and do thou, prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God
thrust down to hell Satan and all wicked spirits,
who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.
Amen.”

Man is a combination of matter and spirit (body and soul). Angels are pure spirits. The souls of the angels were created immediately by God. The soul of man is also created immediately by God, but, unlike that of an angel, it is infused into the body.

When a man dies the soul separates from the body, but this is only temporary as the body and soul will be reunited after the general judgment.

Hey, pop culture presents it that way - and let’s not forget…“every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings.” I’m sure at one point I thought we became angels after we died. It shouldn’t be that surprising that people think that way, but that doesn’t make it any less wrong.
