The Flood: Did it happen?

Why would god, at any time, say that stoning is somehow more effective at accomplishing his goals than a humane death sentence. I don’t know if you ever saw the video of the girl in Iraq being stoned for adultery (which the bible supports) but I did, and I wish I hadn’t. She was buried chest deep in the ground. It took 30 minutes of rocks being hurled at her head while she tried to cry out for help through a gagged mouth and flailed her arms about trying to protect herself from the rocks she couldn’t see through her blindfold. It is absolutely disgusting and it’s memory has kept me awake more than one night. I don’t think it takes very much compassion or goodness to see that this is an absolutely detestable act. If god made us in his image I would think that we share at least a small part of his goodness, which would allow us to know that this is wrong. But why then was it part of his system of laws? I believe that anyone that partakes in this is not fit to live because they are dangerous to innocent people, and i would not feel one bit of guilt putting the people who did this to that poor girl in a gas chamber and pushing the button myself.

God, from the beginning with the Flood, has killed people. In the case of the flood, He needed to rid mankind of the genes that had made their way into the genetic pool due to the fallen angels mating with human women.

They needed not die. They were warned and warned.

From Adam through Noah, through Abraham, through Moses, and through David and finally through Mary, Jesus was born.
He had the perfect lineage.

Yes, I saw the video, saw worse included Danny Pearl’s beheading.

When Jesus came upon the woman being stoned, He showed us that just because you can do something it does not mean that you should.

Our Just God can send us all to hell. Our lovingkindess God made a Way for us to have Heaven.

this act of lovingkindness was the passion of Jesus Christ.

All that God did He did so for the sake of : #1 The Jewish People and Jerusalem and #2 so that Jesus could die . Without either, we had no hope.

Catholics understand the daughters of men to be Cains line and the Sons of God to be Seths.

Huh??
Angels are non-corporeal beings. In other words - they are pure spirit. They cannot have sexual relations with humans.

**Where are you getting this from?? Are you referring to the Nephilim in Gen. 6:4 and Num. 13:33? **They weren’t angels.

You do not have to agree with a lot of people who have studied the Scriptures and supporting jewish writings.

Next time I have an opportunity to talk with an angel, i will get the final answer.

That’s just it - I don’t espouse my opinions on this board. I try to discuss only the facts as taught by the historic Christian faith . . .**

I must admit, Elvisman, you are indeed one strong and steadfast defender of the Church.

I would very much enjoy to hear your story on why you converted to the RC Church. I’ve often found myself agreeing that were I not LDS, the only Christian church that I could join would be one of the Catholic sects (Roman or Greek). This is certainly not on topic, so if you want to make it via message, I understand.
 
I believe that there really was a worldwide flood at some point in history and that Noah led a few people onto his ark and that is how mankind was saved.

The flood looked like that! The rising water wasn’t just ‘steady’ but caused rushing tidal / tsunami like flows that ‘shaped’ what we now have.

There’s plenty of ‘water’ on the planet now if all the polars melted and the crust opened up what is 'sustaining the great rivers of Earth. There isn’t enough rainfall to sustain them, especially the global rivers we currently have.

The astronomers are also discovering that some of the celestial bodies are ‘water’ masses.

The ‘kinds’ of animals could be several canines to ‘evolve’ into the scores of types we now have, nevermind the deliberate ‘breeding’ by man. Same for felines /equines / apes / etc…

Given the carcasses, fish, floating plant life at the earlier stage, food wasn’t a problem. In times of forest fires or quakes (now) watch the animals! They do not hunt or ‘recognise’ their born prey or enemy!

Provide a home and dogs & cats sleep on each other! Cats and mice eat together! We once had a parakeet that rode around on our cat and dog…annoying them.

I’d like to think some portion of landmass remained uncovered during all this, but that is not what Scriptures says.

My only issue would have been the **smell **and the eight people would have had to **work out their salvation **everyday or two!

What waters are in the crusts, sufficient to inundate the land and cover up to 30,000 feet of water? I find that claim to be highly suspect.

Another issue that has been beat to death is how you fit 7 pairs of each clean species and 1 pair of each unclean species and fit them all in the ark with enough food to last the necessary period of time. And if we assume there were far fewer species then you have to multiply the species in a radical manner to get to the number of species we have today over a relatively short period of time.
 
I thought it was rain?

Even if it was a tsunami, the waters don’t stick around for very long.
