I have been reading about the forbidden knowledge taught to mankind by the fallen angels, these were never intended by God to reach mankind, so Im curious why people in general literally accept most of these things today, I believe there is 8 item, I know of these, root cutting (pharmacology), beautification of the eyes(makeup) astronomy, real magic(which I believe is rare today). Not sure about the other 4, but Im sure I could find them.

There must be some reason God did not want humans to have this knowledge.

I did a short internet search about your topic…and I was lead to some sites about freemasonry, some new age internet sites, and other sites that I hesitated to click on because I was afraid of accidently downloading an internet virus.

I’ve tried to find some Catholic source about your question, and can’t find anything.

I actually find pharmaceuticals to be a gift from God…
Can you imagine what life would have been like for a type 1 diabetic, before the subcutaneous insulin became available
Think about life for cancer patients, before chemotherapy.
Did you know that today leprosy is treated with a simple regimen of antibiotics?
I can’t imagine what it was like before the time of antibiotics or immunizations…
Antibiotics and immunizations…were a wonderful gift from God.

There is nothing evil about makeup.

As far as magic…witchcraft, fortune telling, divinations, and sorcery have always been disordered.

I personally can’t find anything remotely Catholic in teaching about “forbidden knowledge.” If you would like to provide some sources or links to help me to better understand your question that would be appreciated, but please don’t link me to a site that would inflict an internet virus.

I just read about this too in Enoch - which as I have learned is not considered canonical scripture or without error. So what information it contains cannot be taken as divinely inspired truth.

You have been reading is not Catholic teaching. It is, basically, nonsense.

God is in charge of everything and everyone, even the fallen angels. If God didn’t want certain knowledge to get to us, it would NEVER get to us because God controls everything.

I don’t think God wants us to be little gods and forget about Him and try to manipulate the world for power to benefit ourselves.

But I am also guilty of researching ‘forbidden knowledge’ because I am very curious. I recently finished episodes 1-15 on Spirit Science. Some of it, I would never try (most of it is ‘New Age stuff’) but most of it is interesting, is backed up by science, and has some Biblical truth. Episode 15 talks about the heart. The heart, in that episode, seems to be the center of our ‘thinking’. Spirit Science also talks about sacred geometry, the flower of life, etc, which is awesome because it teaches us more about God. God is an awesome mathematician! 😃

(However, I don’t think the makers of Spirit Science believe in God or a Creator of the universe. They say you can become little gods- divinity is inside you, which I don’t really like. However, much of the information is very interesting.)

😃

I would stay away from that if I were you…just a suggestion

As for the “forbidden knowledge”, it seems that , like a previous poster wrote, it was from the Book of Enoch, which is not canonical. I read the wikipedia entry and it said in the book that the fallen angles came to earth and had intercourse and offspring with human women.

Yeah I can see why it is not canonical. Fallen angels cannot have neither intercourse nor offspring with humans because they are spirit and have NO BODIES. This book sounds more like an ancient Greek myth than it does a Catholic writing.

The book does not reflect Catholic teaching. I would disregard it completely.
