I agree Della. I was also in the AG back in the 80’s and remember all the hype leading to the Rapture of 1988.

I think the reason people are making a big deal about the blood moon is that it happened on the first day of Passover and will be on Sukkot later this year and will repeat again next year on the same Jewish feast days of Passover and Sukkot. Now that doesn’t necessarily mean anything as far as Christians go but it is rather fascinating on the timing though.
I didn’t know both of those feasts are tied to full moons. Is that true of all Jewish high holidays?

It doesn’t mean anything.

It will only be visible in the new world anyway.
Why did Jesus say he would send signs to the people using the sky and stars then? We all know something in one part of the sky cannot be seen by the entire earth, I trust that Jesus knew this too.

I also have a hard time getting around the fact that EVERY single time this ‘tetrad’ has happened in the past, something major involving Israel has taken place…that is a bit more than coincidence imo, especially since Jesus himself said he would send signs in the sky and stars to warn us.

Ive read quite a bit of news articles about this tetrad and it seems to me they are trying very hard to make people think there is nothing to it and no one should be concerned…I am pretty sure if Jesus himself sent a real sign in the sky to people, those in power would STILL claim there is nothing to be concerned about, they would come up with some kind of scientific explanation to explain it away, so alot of people would not recognize it as a sign from God…remember they have their own agenda.

Can you provide ONE SINGLE time when ANY authority has attributed a sign or natural event to God? I cant think of any! This is something to consider as well.

If God is in this, creating signs, that coincide with events in Israel, then I’d say they are meant as signs to Israel that Jesus is who he said he is, and not about the end of the world, per se.

Jesus gave many signs, still he told us quite plainly that “of the day and hour” no one would know except the Father. He merely wanted us to always be prepared for his coming which will be “like a thief in the night,” i. e. unexpectedly.

Yes, it is interesting and it may, as I responded to mikekle may have more to do with giving Israel fair warning that they need to come to Christ, if it means anything at all, which we can’t be certain. After all, the Jews are Jesus’ own people with whom God had made the covenants. It is only to be expected that God would want to woo them, for Jesus gave the signs of his return first to them, which I think is the significant thing about it. Just my thoughts on it for what they’re worth. 🙂

Who said this had anything to do with the “end of the world”?

I thought it was a sign something will happen with Israel in the near future.

Some of our Evangelical friends see it as a sign of the “end times.” They have a special interest in Israel because they believe the Temple will be rebuilt in Jerusalem, which will usher in the anti-Christ. It gets rather complicated from there. 🙂

You are right, no one can know the exact hour, BUT he also said he would give believers signs and ‘hints’ to be on the look out for, so we will know when he is at the door. Read thru some of these ‘signs’, and I think you will see many have been happened already…Do you think this is just coincidence, or ?

The signs are so vague that people in every age, including St. Paul’s time, thought the end was near. In fact, as the year 1000 rolled around, people were so frightened they gathered in churches to wait for judgment day. The pope at the time had to send out a special message to calm everyone’s fears. The point Jesus was trying to make is that we must always be ready for his return, because there will be many events that appear to be ushering in the end, but we still won’t know the day or the hour.

I know. I was a protester in a previous life.

Former AG here, too. Rapture theory sells books = $$$.

Passover occurs in the 15th of Nisan (on the first full moon following the spring equinox), while Sukkoth is on the 15th of Tishrei - both times the moon should be full, Lunar eclipses can only occur the night of a full moon. There are at least two lunar eclipses in every given year (sometimes as few as one or even none at all - in a few cases maybe even more than two), although total lunar eclipses are significantly less common.

 danged ol storm clouds didn’t allow me to see the Blood Moon.

But as for the “end times”. I cannot for the life of me understand why some people continue to look for “signs” that the “end” of earthly life is upon us. Why worry?!

We, as children of God, will experience an “End Time”, and that will be at our own earthly death. And THAT is the only “End Time” we need to concern ourselves with.👍

Indeed. No doubt you remember the ubiquitous “The Late, Great Planet Earth” that was all the rage in it’s day. When Hal Lindsey’s predictions didn’t come about, I remember he revised his book, but today practically no one has heard of him or his book. I had all but memorized TLGPE at one time. Looking back I can see that being caught up in the frenzy of getting ready for the Rapture had me in a stranglehold. I lived in constant fear that Jesus would return before I’d won enough lost souls–which meant everyone I knew or just casually met–to merit heaven. What a burden that was to carry! Those who believe this way deserve our pity because they drive themselves hard for their cause like slaves before the whip. 😦

NO ONE cay say with authority “it doesn’t mean anything”…we simply don’t know
I can!

There is so much that needs to happen still and will not fit in this timeline.
Why did Jesus say he would send signs to the people using the sky and stars then?
Signs are one thing, a lunar eclipse is another. I don’t remember the world ending during the last tetrad.
We all know something in one part of the sky cannot be seen by the entire earth, I trust that Jesus knew this too.
This is not true. God can make anything happen however He wants it to happen. Do you think that when Jesus comes in glory that only a fraction of the world will be able to see it? No the whole world will, forget the science and believe in what He can do.
Who said this had anything to do with the “end of the world”?
You name it and someone will attach it to the end of the world. Solar eclipse, lunar eclipse, mayan calendar, asteroid flying past Earth, meteor crashing without warning, a flood, an earthquake, repeats of Happy Days, hurricanes, typhoons, two Popes, sars, swine flu, Crimea, comets etc.

He’s still out there. Recently he had a 30 min show on one of the Protestant channels. It may still be going. Of course there is a whole new batch out there. I was fascinated with his books as a kid.

:twocents:

When we seek Him, and sometimes we don’t even know that is what we are doing, God speaks to us in ways that we can understand.

In the remote past, when people gazed up, studied and listened to the stars, He spoke through them.
But that all turned into superstition; people more interested in predictions and their own interests than hearing the word of God.
Having said that, I believe He still does, and there are no doubt people for whom the blood moons will have profound meaning.

I personally find God speaks to me through conversations I have with people.
There will be something said that is either like a seed or conversely like a gnawing that grows, revealing deeper truths and dissolving old untruths.

It seems to me that knowing that this world will end (It could even happen tomorrow, I suppose) makes people anxious.
People also want signs and miracles to take them from the mundane.
Many like to think themselves smarter than others.
For these reasons and more, blood moons make good press.

I don’t know why people think they must prepare for the end of the world - I assure you the end of life on this earth is coming for each and everyone of us regardless of the second coming of Christ - prepare for the end of your life - stop worrying about the second coming. If your following your faith there is no need to worry about the second coming.of Christ - Love God - most (name removed by moderator)ortantly repent.- go to church - take confession and communion and try to forgive those who have wronged you - treat everyone as you want to be treated.

Might not like what i’m saying but its the truth. The end is near - worrying about the second coming is not what you need to be worred about.

Why has every last tetrad resulted in something major occurring in Israel? Look at the history of tetrads and you will see what took place in Israel each time. That is a bit more than coincidence imo.
