The future of conception

If it doesn’t allow for the will of God apart from the parents it isn’t open to life.
Is every conception now the will of God? Even the 11-year pregnant rape victim?

I’ve gotten the impression from Scripture that God particpates in conception by blessing a person with fertility, in general. That is, He grants the ability to procreate. But does not direct each and every act of conception.

Consider that the first chapter of John speaks of the contrast between spiritual birth and physical birth. It clearly associates “fleshly” or bodily generation with man’s will.

John 1:12, 13

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

You’re right. I misread “desire to conceive” as the desire to have the sex for the conception to take place. That’s Mommy brain and low coffee intake both hard at work. Mea culpa.

That said, I would still support the OP’s hypothetical scenario.

Exactly. Divine Providence is a mystery that man must will to fully be open to but is not human providence

Yes, as regards being born in the Spirit. The verse actually contrasts that with being born of the flesh - something accorded to the “will of man.”

Do you mean that Gods Providence isn’t at work when human life is conceived?

Thanks. Now I understand.

I mean exactly as I stated before. God blesses individuals with general fertility, but He does not direct or will individual acts of conception. Otherwise, He is complicit in rape.

God’s providence meets human will in the moment of conception - in that He confers a soul upon the newly formed person.

It seemed you were making born of the flesh and born of the spirit an ‘either or thing’ instead of a’ both and thing’
