What is Hell? Who created it…
Hell is a place of eternal fire. Jesus created it
Do you think God created Hell? If so, show me a verse that says God created Hell?
John 1:1-3 speaking of Jesus Christ says:

“1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God;
3 all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.”

So if Hell was made (created) then Jesus made it. Then there is Mt 25:31-34 with verse 41:

"31 “When the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.
32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats,
33 and he will place the sheep at his right hand, but the goats at the left.
34 Then the King will say to those at his right hand, `Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;”

“41 Then he will say to those at his left hand, `Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels;”

That was easy.

“the eternal fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels” (Mt 25:41).
“But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes I say to you, fear Him.” (Lk 12:5).

For the confused and doubters like the ill-described “TheHolyGhost” there is no other sect or non-Catholic religion which has taught all the truths of Christ protected by the real Holy Spirit, and as has been already stated, all of which have never been, or can ever be, shown to be in error.

Hi Ezeekl

Well I can see that it sure seems easy. But nothing you referenced actually says Jesus created it… Did Jesus create Rape, Murder, Idolatry… No not really… But it came into existence why?.. That doesn’t say Jesus created hell. It doesn’t say hell existed before the creation.

Hell for most seems to be an eternal thing rather than a final thing. I’ve never found one verse in scripture that say’s God created hell or the Lord… But rather it is us that create it by the things we do. Hell is seen more of as a condition or state of existence as the absence of a relationship because we create situations not God or the Lord. The Lord defines it yes… But I don’t see the Lord of God Creating it…

No doubt there are lots of references in scripture that acknowledge its existence and I believe it is real but not because God created it…

Heres an interesting verse with hell…

Matt 11

[21] Woe to thee, Corozain, woe to thee, Bethsaida: for if in Tyre and Sidon had been wrought the miracles that have been wrought in you, they had long ago done penance in sackcloth and ashes. [22] But I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment, than for you. [23] And thou Capharnaum, shalt thou be exalted up to heaven? thou shalt go down even unto hell. For if in Sodom had been wrought the miracles that have been wrought in thee, perhaps it had remained unto this day. [24] But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee. [25] At that time Jesus answered and said: I confess to thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to the little ones.

Now one would surely think about sodom and the things that were written happening there would be burning in hell… But actually Capharnaum is in a worse state of affairs and it was nothing like Sodom… Matter of fact about the opposite of Sodom in its extremes… (Our Current Pope is Looking more wise than most give him credit… And Christ say that if the works done at Capharnaum were done in sodom that city might exist at the time he was doing what he was doing… What does that say about a city like Rome, that still exist today?

Do we really understand hell. Or maybe better said do we really understand the Judgement that awaits us…

peace

Hi Abu,

Death and hell Are swallowed up… If anything Christ didn’t create it, rather he destroyed it… and destroys it Because he brought Judgment…

Rev 20
13 And the sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and hell gave up their dead that were in them; and they were judged every one according to their works. [14] And hell and death were cast into the pool of fire. This is the second death. [15] And whosoever was not found written in the book of life, was cast into the pool of fire.

The fire is the end destroys all because Christ brought judgment or rather made judgment possible… Hell had no power anymore because of what he did…

I refer you once again to John 1:1-3. Please pay special attention to verse #3 speaking of Jesus Christ says:

"1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God;
3 all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made."

So if Hell was made (created) then Jesus made it. And that sums it up, I should think. But if you have a problem with that then you need to speak to the Holy Spirit

If God didn’t create it, then who did? John 1:3 says:

B]3 all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made."

Then there is Matthew 25:41 and 46:

"41 Then he will say to those at his left hand, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels;

46 Then he will say to those at his left hand, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels;"

{Matthew 24:35}) “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away"

Hi ezeekl,

Well I’m saying we did.

Did Christ Create rape, murder, adultery ? Those things exist too.

Too me Christ in scripture is destroying Hell and all in it.

Hell is going into that fire with the devil and his angels. Along with the rape, the murder the adultery ect…ect…

It’s just a different way of seeing it… And why The gates of hell don’t prevail.

Godbless

God did create Hell for Satan and the other fallen angels, but not for man, I dont have a problem believing God created Hell, but do have a problem with the ‘why’, it doesnt make much sense to me that if Satan and the other fallen did what they did, and then God goes and creates a special place for them??..which they currently call home…??? Also important, it does not appear that Satan and the other fallen angels are currently suffering in Hell, and seems like it is a place they feel comfortable in. IMO, this doesnt make sense, it would be like building a new house for someone that wants to kill you and take over your job.

If ’ Satans fall’ happened as it is written, I would think God would just turn those angels to dust immediately.

Hell is the guarantee of human freedom. Without it, we would not have the free will to reject God. Unless there is free will, there would be no reason for Hell. But since the angels and man have it, it must exist. And therefore it is part of creation just as His creatures are.

The “gates of hell” refers to the demonic forces of hell. In the time of walled cities gates were built into the walls to alloweasy egress. But they also were a defensive weakness so they were well protected and defended. So too gates played a role in any offensive actions by the inhabitants of the city for it was through its gates that counterattacks were launched. The passage refers to the mission of the church as given it by Christ at the Great Commissioning. The Church was to preach the Good News, the Gospel. In doing so it would be challenged by the forces of hell. The only way that the forces of hell could prevail is if the church ever taught error. That has never happened for the Catholic Church but it has for all other christian denominations. For 500 years mainline protestant denominations have tried to come up with just one example where the Church taught error. They never could do it. The mainline denominations do not even try anymore. Some of the pentecostal and evangelical groups make accusations but any investigation into their allegations quickly shows their error. That is to be expected though. After all, Jesus said it would never happen.

The above by basmagaber808 is a direct and verbatim copy of my post #38 on this very same thread. Here is my post #38:

A little plagarism here?

Thanks for your reply. I do agree about morality being a system of timeless truths and they are all absolute and are assigned moral or immoral for a reason and not randomly and they are true for everyone at any given timeشركة تنظيف بجدة تنظيف فلل بالرياض شركة تنظيف منازل بالرياض شركة تنظيف مسابح بالرياض شركة تسليك مجاري بالرياض شركة تنظيف مساجد بالرياض شركة تنظيف قصور بالرياض

How then could the Lord have said to Moses to kill? Not to defend, not to engage in a just war, but to kill. Either the Lord commanded something that is contrary to His merciful, loving nature and His commandment or Moses just claimed that the Lord told him to do so to justify killing. In either scenario, it would already appear that the gates of hell have prevailed long before the Church; either that God is not good and not unchangeable or that Moses lied and from the very beginning and our understanding of truth is distorted.

High Mikekle,

I think my point would be the Gates of Hell as in the opposite of what is often stated in context.
Lets say that I have lived a life that is suspect… Is hell only a place that is created in the concept like in a geographical sense… Capharnaum was at the very rim of hell and it was a city on earth. Forget hell as the mind set of Geographical but rather a state of Mind. Then the Gates of hell no longer hold back those captive because Christ defeated the Gates that prevented that mind set that freed those lost to the truth of God…
Code:
Hell because its Gates keep out a force from entering to rescue something that was delivered to it. Like Purgatory isn't a place in geographical sense but one of a state of mind of doing penance for one's past.
The truth in NT teachings and scripture is that hell wasn’t permanent but temporary because it is going into a fire that burns up everything that goes into it. Hell and death are swallowed up. The Gates of hell could no longer hold captive those unfortunate souls who found themselves being held captive by it… Christ was truly the Savior of the World!!! And that included those souls that had been held in Hell… Christ broke through those gates…

Peace

Edited to add some clarity.

Hell isn’t a place but mind held captive… Christ destroy the principalities that held the mind captive…

Regarding Hell, I have often found C. S. Lewis helpful. He says, “That door of Hell is firmly locked . . . on the inside; whether it is locked on the outside need not, therefore, be considered.” Also: “In the long run the answer to all those who object to the doctrine of hell is itself a question: ‘What are you asking God to do?’ To wipe out their past sins and, at all costs, to give them a fresh start, smoothing every difficulty and offering every miraculous help? But He has done so, on Calvary. To forgive them? They will not be forgiven. To leave them alone? Alas, I am afraid that is what He does.” Thus “Hell is God’s last mercy to those who will let Him do no other.” That is, God gave us free will, and our creating Hell for ourselves is the price of that freedom, if we insist. God, whose very presence is torment for the sinful soul, can do nothing but leave it alone–but that aloneness is itself torment, for our souls can only find peace and fullness in God.

What does this have to do with the gates of hell not prevailing against the Church? Well, if the Church is God’s instrument for continuing to spread the Good News of God’s mercy, and Hell itself is God’s terrible final mercy–that it would be a contradiction for God’s mercy to prevail against God’s mercy.
