Hi guys,

I’ve been doing a lot of research over the past few years on genetically modified food and its effects on the body. My good friend is a herbalist - not new age or flaky - by God’s grace he’s helped people with cancer, MS, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s. If anyone is interested let me know, and I’ll share his YouTube channel. He shows you how to read food labels, and do a whole bunch of stuff yourself. He’s really been a blessing to me and people I know and love.

Wheat is especially bad, and I don’t mean the gluten thing. I mean how, because of its contamination, and modification, it is not broken down properly in the GI tract, causing Gerd and a host of other issues.

I suffered terribly with this and when I eat grains I feel it.

My question is, is this a valid scenario for me not to consume the host, and receive both species under the appearance of wine only, or should this be a sacrifice that I offer up, trusting that aside from this instance, in my daily life, if I abstain from wheat and grains as much as I can otherwise, I won’t feel any effects from the properties of wheat in the long term, consuming the host?

Please pray for me.

Thanks so much.

The benefits of worthily receiving the Eucharist far outweighs any momentary discomfort a person may or may not feel from consuming a very small, and paper thin consecrated host.

Christ is not going to make you ill.
He will heal you. 🙂

I had no idea that the human body was made out of tissue paper before I signed up on CAF. Let’s just say it’s a radically different atmosphere than a bodybuilder forum.

If consuming the physical properties of 3 calories of wheat causes pain for your gut, then only receives from the cup. Each species contains the fullness of Christ. It’s your call.

Do you know that the source of the hosts your parish uses, are themselves using wheat that is genetically modified?

“Both species” means ‘host and Precious Blood’ – the physical elements – not ‘Body and Blood of Christ’. We receive the Body and Blood of Christ whether we receive one species only (host or Precious Blood) or both species. 😉

Now, it seems that your question is whether you can receive the Precious Blood only. The the answer is ‘yes’.

Your call. Do you think, if the host is made from GM wheat, that consuming a couple of grams of bread from that wheat, once a week, is going to have an effect on you?

Probably not. Thanks guys.

That’s where I’m leaning :grin:God bless!

To this question, it’s pretty much a given. Sadly, it really can’t be avoided unless you know the source, which is out of the reach of big corporations, and out of range of chemtrail fallout.

Thanks for the responses, all. Much appreciated.

May the Lord bless you.

Actually some people are highly sensitive to even small amounts of GMOs - which are not natural to our bodies anyway- or can even suffer greatly to even trace amounts of normal gluten if allergic.

I’d at least ask a doctor’s opinion and use caution, especially if you know the host has undergone genetic tampering. Otherwise you could be allergic to gluten and that can be very serious.

Indeed. Very true. It just blows my mind. Food isn’t even food anymore. Everything’s messed up. Everyone knows someone with cancer these days. The fact that people even have to *think about this in the context of the Eucharist - well, that says a whole lot right there.

It is possible to get low-gluten hosts which would contain a minimum content of wheat and may therefore solve your problem of discomfort while still enabling you to receive under both species.

The churches I’ve been to have gluten free wafers they consecrated and offer to those with gluten allergies. I’ve also heard of people in these instances only receiving the blood. I’d speak with a priest about your particular needs. I’m not sure some people understand the severity of allergies and discomfort some people can have.

You’re receiving the Bread of Angels, the New Manna, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Alpha and the Omega, the Word Incarnate, Christ Jesus. GOD HIMSELF. Get over your fear of GMOs and humbly receive the Sacred Host.

Just a side note…

Gluten-free is not valid matter.

Low gluten is approved, valid matter.

Then what I saw was probably not gluten free (I just assumed so because they had an allergy). I assume it must have been low gluten. It was a very traditional church, I don’t think they’d have used invalid matter. Thank you for the correction.

Back to the original poster, if you don’t have an allergy or reaction to eating wheat, then please don’t hold back from the Eucharist. It is truly a very small amount.

The problem is that some companies market low-gluten altar bread as “GLUTEN FREE” while they label the actual gluten free altar bread as “ZERO GLUTEN”, and market it to non-Catholic ecclesial communities, thus causing a lot of confusion, at least here on the forums, about the actual status of the altar bread as valid matter for Catholic liturgy.

I’m sure dioceses can figure it out. It’s not something laity need to now.
